He's also the biggest draw currently available and a lesser version of a fighter leon just beat twice. so why not fight him? There has to be a reason outside of intergity, because when it came to belal asking for a shot leon responded with "you're not getting a title shot you bum"

He already said he will fight Colby if they pay him enough. He just doesn't think anybody deserves it right now.

Also the "you ain't getting a title shot" to Belal was under a very specific context.

Wonderboy said on camera that he had heard through the grapevine that Usman was out and somebody else would be fighting Leon for the title. Leon got wind of it and contacted the UFC, who assured him that Kamaru was fine and in training and they were still fighting in March.

Belal had also heard Wonderboy and claimed he was next. Leon knew he was still fighting Usman so just matter of factly told him he isn't fighting for the title.

Wonderboy then later admitted he was just speculating about what would happen if Kamaru was out of the trilogy fight, and just worded it poorly.

I’m talking about not turning down challengers at all. If the company is publicly saying this is the next guy in line and you are saying no, it’s a very bad look. Champions really have no say in who they are fighting next, it’s more or less who they put in front of you. You say you aren’t going to fight someone, the UFC will easily say “We will find someone who will then and slap interim belt on them”

Any other option is less merited than colby. Save for shavkat, who is really JUST breaking thru now.

Colby is the fight, It will happen 100% no other fight makes sense from the UFC perspective. Belal Can't draw, and shavkat still needs to headline a FN card or Co-main a PPV
