Least naturally/genetically talented fighter to take the title?

They guy had legendary stamina and endurance. Built a successful career off of it (because lord knows he didn't have the hand power). How that isn't "good genes" is beyond me.
The power started to come back a bit towards the end dropping Rockhold and Silva. Working with Jason Parilo did him good. He just never planted his feet properly when throwing a big shot is what I remember them saying he had to really fix in his game.

he also had that weird skill of being able to get back up to his feet using the cage was very hard to keep him down.

Bad list. Jamahal won only because of his athleticism. Aspinall is fast and powerful, even more impressive from his grappling background. Carla was a physical beast and much more gifted than her competitors.
Jamahal Hillary is not "athletic"; but I get exactly where you are coming from 👻

That would certainly explain it, and I can kind of see it in his stance looking back.

I grew to like him. But I remember for years that he was "that guy" that I'd pretty much always assume was going to lose. . . but who usually ended up winning.

Burr used to be funny as shit in his early years. Got married and took some mushrooms and wikipedia hasn't even bothered to make an entry for any of his new standup since 2019. Sad case!

Jamhal won because he was younger and less shop worn than Glover, with Glover having just come off of his war against Jiri six months prior while Jamhal battered a post-knees Santos in the same timeframe.

He was in the UFC within five years of training and had speed and power during his run. If that's not naturally gifted, then no one.

He may not have looked the part, the abs, the muscle etc, but he had the skills that was always improving, cardio, endurance, most of all heart add that with the skills he did have great kickboxing, grappling, and in his later years his boxing really cleaned up.

I always found it weird that fighters don't consult with the likes of Liddell, Bj Penn, Bispings, Aldo’s & GSP. Takedowns really hasn’t changed all too much throughout the years, it’s the positional control on the ground and damage thst can be given that has drastically change, due to the Russians. But the aforementioned fighters really should have their skills picked up more in terms TDD defense alone, Aldo has the best TDD defense in all of MMA, theres almost no one close to it, even at his age he was still not giving up many takedowns, he practically figured out a counter defense to calf kicks and yet fighters still dont incorporate into their skills. TDD & the ability to get backup is a dying art, imo. You rarely see fighters commit to sprawls nowadays, some just fight it off for a few seconds then give up the takedowns.

Dave Menne and Matt Serra

Everyone else had crazy size or were clearly very gifted athletes

Champ twice

Good job getting hammered by Dan who is 45 and avoiding Yeol, Jacare, Withtaker and Weidman.

Sean Strickland
I can kind of understand it, Strickland looks very plodding in his footwork.

He has one athletic attribute that is very, very good, his reflexes seem elite.

Also decent hand speed.

And very good cardio.

I don't like him but I'll say belal no punching power and not that fast on top of starting late. Hell of a chin though.
TIM “TIMMAY” SILVA

fight me
That knock kneed, pigeon toed, spare tire waisted, noodle armed, walnut headed goof is the hands down winner

End/thread

GSP>Whittaker, Weidman, Jacare, Yoel
Good joke. Jon and GSP are paper cherry pick champs of the divison above. They are small for it. LHW and WW goats but HW MW paper champs. GSP held up the division to get more rich causing Jacare to not get a chance to get a shot. Undeserved title shot. Only wanted it with Bisping for a title.

To add to this, he threw a lot of lower power volume in his hands but deep down (especially at MW) he was actually really strong and big for the weight class.

I don't think you can be really strong for the weight class and have legendary stamina/endurance and not be considered good genes/athletic ability.
