I don't mind her commentating on Contender Series, but you're probably never going to see her commentate in UFC. She seems to do a fine job, but the spaces are very limited to work in UFC with Anik, DC, Felder, Bisping etc all working the majority of the fight night events.

And you're never going to hear Dana say it publicly because the media would crucify him, but I think he knows having any woman (regardless of qualifications) would mess with the on air presentation/ vibe for the fans. There's a dude bro culture in mma, "watching fights with the boys" aspect built into UFC's presentation. Nobody can say with a straight face that the audience wouldn't have some valid criticisms if we were constantly given a Sanko / Olivi pairing instead of the DC / Felder / Cruz etc pairings we are used to.

Strictly talking about commentary here though, Sanko + Olivi etc obviously do a great job in other roles they do during these events.

Have to agree with this. I have seen enough of Megan Olivi in unguarded moments, not during fight nights, to form the firm view that she has a big ego, is volatile, difficult, somewhat temperamental and quite likely high-maintenance in every way.

Laura Sanko is qualified, fun, knowledgeable, she still trains quite a bit in Kansas/Missouri, she is absolutely 'One of the Boys', she is quite mischievous, and entertaining. Plus of course she is a pretty lady too and I think she is ultimately FAR calmer than Olivi and probably far less difficult to work with.

Don't @ me, all you Megan Olivi fans. She is cute too, but that's.......about it.

She's got a good voice for it. I usually don't like female commentators because the higher, shriller voice we women usually have makes it harder to make out what's being said. I got enough on my plate listening to Stipe interviews, I don't need more challenges. But she's very, very clear.

She has worked literally every episode of the Contender Series in its history, and has already done commentary for Invicta and LFA.

She also did ring announcing and interviews tonight. She more than earned her shot.

^^^ this. DWCS is like TUF, except:

• The ratio of fighting to bullshit is 80/20 instead of 20/80.
• The level of competition is higher overall, since DWCS scouts for talent, while TUF goes "We need eight guys in the same weight class who we otherwise weren't going to sign in the next six months."
• The fighters are actually training with their own teams and don't have to cut weight multiple times in a matter of weeks.

So...DWCS is like TUF, except good.
