Wouldn't it be extremely unlikely for the shooter not to be ideologically motivated given the nature of the attack?

Extensive planning, impeccable execution, etc..

Someone who does a murder/suicide because his wife left him, or some other similar cause, is generally going to do it impulsively.

That part of the story is extremely unusual.

Out of all the high profile shootings/bombings/killings over the last decade or so, the only one I can recall that wasn't ideologically motivated is the Sandy Hook incident, and that kid was disturbed in some way I believe.
