You want people on the ground to fire back at him? You want them firing at a target they can't even see, hundreds of meters of away, with small arms...at a crowded hotel made completely of glass?

That's one thing about this situation that keeps fucking with me. This guy was deliberate in his decision to take that high of ground. (He didn't even have to be that high up i.e 32 floor) Why it bother's me is because at that height I know a couple of things.

1. I'm harder to identify and find. Echo works in my favor in an urban environment.
2. I know first responders (average patrol man) are going to be the first to show up at ground level before the tactical guys come in. That means I know most of them just carry pistols and 870 remmington pump action shotguns. Meaning they are of zero threat to me for returning fire. (on top of which a cop is accountable for *every* round he shoots.)
3. He established platforms and a sector of fire.
4. He took into consideration every little detail, except for the smoke detectors and to be quite honest I doubt anyone outside of a professional hitman would even bother to consider that. Lord knows I actually would not have. That's something that you never run into at firing range, indoor or open. So basically he had all his bases covered except for the smoke detector.

My mind is blown on this one.

1. He had no political affiliation; nothing shows him at an anti-trump rally at all

In this case, it would have been terrible. Since they thought the gunfire was coming from the ground, and could see (let alone reach) the actual shooter, they just would have killed each other with gunfire, intentional and incidental.

Sorry but your wrong and and have a vivid imagination. In your mind people with CC sidearms would just start slaughtering each other in these situations. People with CCW have weapon training that includes identifying the threat first and then drawing your weapon when you know it can be used effectively.

Because after all of the condolences, this is what people do. They start picking apart the tragedy. Whether out of some sense of curiosity or the simple need to understand or yes, because they simply don't understand how someone can do such a thing with no warning especially when it appears so well planned out.

The most you hope for is no outright trolling, but people are going to process this in their own ways.
