L Edwards now clarifies why Ian Garry isn't welcome anymore

What does it change? Do all the english speaking guys not talk to anyone else even though they could? Also why do you care if he brought a Parrot to training? Maybe the Parrot spoke Polish and English and could act as a translator?

It sounds like they hated that Garry took his self-promotion as serious as his training. Ronda, Conor and Brock stayed at smaller, less popular gyms for a reason.

If you are all about the self promotion its hard to be part of a culture of discipline. Having a rule of what happens in the gym stays in the gym allows people to be more free then they can when possibly being filmed in private moments.

Just the other day I was at the gym and this very large dude was walking to a machine with what I thought was a cane/crutch. Then I realized it was a tripod style selfie stick for shooting his workout. There are actually quite a few "Influencer" wanna-bees at my gym. I find it so weird when two girls are filing themselves working out. It can affect the atmosphere for sure. But that is the culture of this gym and I don't try to change it. I have to work within that culture. In fact my gym is the home gym of the current "Worlds Strongest Man". Other gyms I have been at there are no cameras allowed.

I dig the old school mentality of Edwards. Honestly I've trained at gyms where the pro fighters skip the warm ups and technique portions of practice and just come to do live sessions/sparring; it always bugged me.

He turned up at their facility to do his own training as opposed to training with them. Since fighters rarely pay, he basically just got a free ride from them and gave minimal back. He basically circumvented the old boxing approach of a private camp and brought his sparring partners/coaches in by going to their gyms instead.

I believe the gym's also in an area of Birmingham with a lot of social problems and youths who could end up involved in crime? I think it's not a great message to those youths to have someone like Ian Garry in the gym, who seems to want to follow his own rulebook.

I agree with your points if Garry indeed interferes with their training methods. He should be doing such stuff in a smaller gym where he is one of the main fighters.

But people also tend to hate "influencers" just for doing that kind of work.

It's in the post that he turns up to training late and expects special treatment by bringing an entourage as a guest.

He is using them for training and content and doesn't give much more back than being a sparring partner.

3 gyms now have asked him to go somewhere else from how he behaves. I think all the crap he got from Strickland about his Mrs was completely out of line and just shows how dymb the MMA community can be. It still seems like Ian Garry is a bit of a knob in terms of treating gyms with respect and his comments about Magny were out of line.

He seems to be burning bridges and putting himself in the position to not have high level guys to work with pretty soon.

Having the wife there or the cameras doesnt have to be a problem.. as long as their like flies on the wall and dont disturbed the sanctity and the process of the gym .....

As soon as that changes though ...its time to go..Leon is right here .. the gym is a place of work and everyone is equal , that's how it works best
