Bottom line, like all gyms there are pros and cons. Take everything you hear with a massive grain of salt.

Go train there, try it out, see if you like the vibe. If it feels good for you, sign up. If not, you have tons of options in the area.

Yeah, I've heard him speak a lot, and he seems to have a pretty young mentality and I think that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Being an instructor with your own academy on top of being a world champion at age 25 is not the path most people go down and I think he tries to be as "Normal" as possible.

But, being a "Normal" 25 year old is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way, especially people who view these guys as superheroes, Gracies especially.

Plenty of people compete without the blackbelt there. The huge number of tournaments makes that a near certainty. I am not sure about the other stuff you said, but him not coaching at tournaments is kind of a meh criticism for me.

In order to defend your master against accusations, you are confirming that the accusations are valid.

All I am telling you is shut up and do not antagonise more his reputation by validating the accusations:

kron does get that attitude sometimes but dude he lives under all this imaginary hype the community builds for him and i think anyone would feel pressure. I have seen him come off as arrogant with others and myself included. And then I see all the times he puts his heart into making sure we learn jiu jitsu and actually cares if we learn or not. And he is a nice person as well always greeting everyone and looking out for newer people in training. Making sure older students dont get crazy with them.

At the end of the day if you're some guy who comes to train at Krons once while on Holiday, you wont be exposed to what REALLY goes on there. Without any real attachment or connection to the gym its really easy to get a normal impression there.

BUT if you actually train there permanently you will see exactly what Im talking about.

Some guys come and train there and don't participate in the nonsense and have no connection to the drama so to them its "All good" But those are the guys who end up staying a white belt or blue belt for 6 years.

If you're in the mix and hierarchy of the academy and trying to be promoted you are either a brown noser a bully or a victim and you become brainwashed with the idea that "THIS IS HOW THINGS ARE" and if you don't agree you're a "BABY" or you're "WEAK" or some other degrading, bullying shit they do.

Just look at how that poster Your Grace responds to any criticism. Calling people names and "weak" and "cry babies" like a true worshiper of the nonsense that goes on there.

Can you learn BJJ there? Yes.

Is there good instruction? Yes.

Are there good practitioners there to train with? Yes.


Is it the best BJJ academy you can train at? Not even fucking close.


Those are FACTS and Krons worshippers need to deal with it.

I train @ AOJ and I guarantee you that Mendes Bros will corner anybody, even white belts. of course there are times when they can't corner people if there are 2-3 AOJ guys fighting at the same time.

I've been to three Las Vegas Opens and never seen them coaching, even when they are there. The other times were at Grappler's Quest and they weren't there at all. I don't want to post exact names, but there is a possibility the guys I competed against weren't actually AOJ, maybe an affiliate. Very chinese names.

It's not really a criticism, imo. Sometimes they are not there to corner, for whatever reason. It's really not a big deal.

I know nothing about Kron's academy, am a big fan of his competition.

That said, of COURSE some academies are better at producing champions. Take your above example. Keenan wasn't just tearing up the world before going to a competition-oriented school in TLI, and he clearly displayed large improvements in skill after going to ATOS. Some schools just empirically ARE growing better competitive success than other schools for various reasons. Attributing that to the way the schools prepare you for those competitions isn't crazy
