Plenty of people compete without the blackbelt there. The huge number of tournaments makes that a near certainty. I am not sure about the other stuff you said, but him not coaching at tournaments is kind of a meh criticism for me.

Been to kron's a few times now.. Last 3 years while Im on holiday in la and always had a fantastic time.. Great detailed teaching and a friendly chilled environment. Never experienced any of the negative talk that's in this thread (and I'm no newb ) ....quite frankly there seems to be a some sort of agenda in some of these posts, because they sound sooo ridiculously over the top with the negativity that it sounds fake. I saw a red flag because certain posters aren't even trying to make it sound remotely close to the real experience of training at the academy. Very sad this type of white Anting/ subversion exists in the bjj community.

I'm guessing there is some truth to both arguments. You can't always tell the underlying politics of what goes on in a gym from a few casual visits.
Some of his public behaviour and behaviour after matches don't endear him to many people that haven't met him. But only people that have known him a while and trained with him for some time can tell what he is like.
It seems like there are so many great academies in California that you are spoilt for choice. Try a number of gyms and see what you like best.

I have trained there too...was lucky enough to be there when he was preping and training for the ADCC 2013 when he kicked all's ass and submitted them all.
He teached all classes in the afternoon, and the morning sessions twice a week. So he was teaching 7 out of the 10 classes but he was there also the rest or the open mat sessions.
The training was amazing, going to deep details in each move and always reminder on basics such as weight, leverage, opponents energy & stuff like that. Not too many fancy stuff!
Awsome to have had the opportunity to train there and will do it again for sure!

I hate people like you that are dragging the name of your master into the mud.
In order to defend your master against accusations, you are confirming that the accusations are valid.
All I am telling you is shut up and do not antagonise more his reputation by validating the accusations:
Claim 1: They do not make champions any longer.
your response: You make yourself a champion given the resources around u.
Claim 2: He does not corner his fighters.
Your response: U dont know anything, just sounds like ur weak. You probably broke or something when u realized people arent gonna hold your hand there but make u work.
Claim 3: Claim of mob mentality and bullying individuals in the group.
Your response: Dont listen to this guy because from experience this guy is full of shit. And yes Kron has been mean to me before but in a coaching type way. Guess what I didn't cry, I realized he was talking shit because i was lacking focus at times. Wake up cry baby. He is a martial arts instructor, id hope he would give his students a little shit when they lose focus in class.
kron does get that attitude sometimes but dude he lives under all this imaginary hype the community builds for him and i think anyone would feel pressure. I have seen him come off as arrogant with others and myself included. And then I see all the times he puts his heart into making sure we learn jiu jitsu and actually cares if we learn or not. And he is a nice person as well always greeting everyone and looking out for newer people in training. Making sure older students dont get crazy with them.

Do your master a favour and stop talking on his attitude, arrogance and when he is mean to you?
