I've been to three Las Vegas Opens and never seen them coaching, even when they are there. The other times were at Grappler's Quest and they weren't there at all. I don't want to post exact names, but there is a possibility the guys I competed against weren't actually AOJ, maybe an affiliate. Very chinese names.

I saw both Mendes Bros at this years SF Open and they were cornering blues up to black. They were pretty much right up against the borders/fence for a good part of the day coaching (as far as I could tell they were there all day, I didn't follow them around or anything but I saw them cornering first thing in the morning up until the very last matches). I didn't notice if they cornered the white belts, because I wasn't paying attention to the mats during the white belt matches.

I've never been at an event where they were at before so I don't know about the past, but maybe they are embracing their roles as coaches/instructors more seriously now.

May be is just me but I don't see anything wrong saying wtf are you doing your student... i do it all the time, but I do have a very close relationship them, may be is just the place we live on, any ways if one of my students gets piss off and do not come back because he doesn't like strong words, ballet ------> way.

Does anyone on these forums train there and if so what are your thoughts. Please pm me if it would allow you to be more honest, thanks. I didn't find much about the school specifically with the search function, but I did see a lot of people really don't like him... even though they don't know him, so I'd like to hear from someone who trains there, thanks. Cost would be awesome too.

Edit: Another question came to mind. How often does Kron actually teach his classes. Seems like his training schedule would not provide time to teach two classes a day except weekends, thanks.

I don't train with him, but I think he teaches classes at his gym frequently. Watch the JRE episode with him on it, he talks about his gym a little on there.

I met Kron in one of his seminars in Rio, and he was nice to me. But yeah, he can be really cocky and rude. He's that cool friend that is cool to hang out with, but that is the bully of the school that makes fun and pick on everyone but you. He was nice to me, but he was really disrespectful towards some old school black belts there. He cussed a lot during the seminar, didn't seem very patient and when someone would ask him something like: "how can I pass the x-guard?" he would be like: "thats a dumb question, show it on me". The blackbelt would put him in the x guard, and obviously he would pass his guard with ease (after all he is a top notch competitor, and the student is a 40 year old black belt that trains BJJ for a hobby). He would say stuff like: "you have a sh***y guard" or "you are a black belt and you don't even know how to pull guard?"
if someone asked him if the move could be countered he would say something like: "you are the sh*t right? so come and do it in me, let me see if your counter works"
I was really surprised.. Everyone from Gracie Tijuca got pissed at him, and he is for sure not coming back. It was still cool to hear his insight in some things, even though he isn't really a good teacher (he is not patient at all). I wouldn't be surprised if he had actually cussed students out in his gym. I mean, if he did it with black belts from a different gym, imagine how he would treat his own students in a bad day?
I also heard from another dude that he almost started a beef with a black belt from Gracie Humaita in Rio after rolling really hard with him.
I would still want to check his gym out.. just not sure if I would want to train there full time.
