K-Pop/J-Pop Kpop/Jpop Music Station Thread

Sori, formerly of Cocosori, new single.

So just to highlight how difficult the k-music industry is SoRi just retired. Shocking, just days ago she made her comeback with Initial S and now she's retiring for Kpop. According to her label it was following the low sales or her recent comeback, kind of sad for her but I suppose she and her label are more honest and probably realized going into this single there was very little demand or fanbase to sustain her career, the results of the latest comeback probably just confirmed it for them. Cut throat.

huh, i don't see that news anywhere but that's too bad. i think the writing has been on the wall for Sori for a while now though. she had a string of bad luck despite a so much hard work on her part. CocoSori was great but didn't get them much attention and then they imploded. she did great on MixNine but unfortunately that show was run by noted scumbag YG and didn't end up really doing anything for anyone. i think she released "I Am Not Alone" thinking it would be her last song and imo it worked better than Initial S (although Initial S is great) as a deeply personal retirement song.

she's been in a webdrama this year as well, as i understand it based on her experience never making it big and trying to leave the industry:

in happier news, get fucking hyped for this star-studded show: Miss Baek

it's got all time greats Subin (Dal Shabet), Soyul (Crayon Pop), Sera (Nine Muses), Nada (WA$$UP). and a lot of other big names.

a clash of former rivals (Subin vs. Soyul 7 years ago):

Yeah I only saw it on one of her international fansites that I sometimes follow. She has spoken in the past about leaving the music industry and I just assumed it was a passing comment so who knows. I think her recent song was crowdfunded right? And it reached it's target which was about 20k Dollars I think so I hope the fansite was wrong.

Either way I think she has some fans so I think she can still have a career in the Kpop and maybe even drama too, so I hope the fans were mistaken.

Anyway in other news does anyone else find it hilarious how many dance practices versions ITZY have been putting out lately? I don't know if it's a running gag at this point or what..

they just dropped another one today lol. the Hanbok version.

I think for Not Shy that's about 9 versions now?

That song is such a bop, I've been bumping so much ever since it came out

I agree I think Not Shy and Wannabe have really grown on me and I've got them on my Kpop playlist on Spotify. So catchy. I think funnily enough as a Once I think More & More was probably the only title track JYPE didn't kill it this year with, don't get me wrong it's okay and it was a real bop at firts but kinda got old quick for me, but Wannabe, Not Shy, Zombie and God's Menu have been some of the best Kpop songs all year.

couple solo debuts (i think) from established groups...

Apink Namjoo's debut (composed by (G)I-DLE Soyeon):

Oh My Girl's YooA:

Underrated. This smash hit was way too underrated.

sucks that A.N.S. is done

Lina is a UFC fan btw

yeah that was a kind of weird ending to ANS.

don't know about loving MMA but aforementioned Crayon Pop Soyul was on a "dating show" where she caught the eye of Kim Dong Hyun:

SNSD at least love Sexyama's daughter:
