Consequently, BioWare will undoubtedly be mentioned in the end credits, but it is otherwise not involved — however, Treadmill does also say that some of the original game’s developers have joined Aspyr to help make the remake too, which is good news.

Had my interest, but lost a bit when I saw the Sony logo. Last Star Wars thing I remember they had was Star Ward Galaxies which they burnt into the ground. I'll wait and see since this was just a teaser.

Have you tried The Old Republic?

There's not many Star Wars games I haven't played lol. I played so many bad one's over the years and some good one's too. But yeah I played SWTOR since beta (haven't played in years though).

Pros:

• Fun single player with multiple companions that can fill different roles (healer/tank/caster/DPS)
• Good story and voicework
• Relatively solid combat

Cons:

• Worlds are bland and linear
• Capitals are underwhelming
• Just a huge lack of variety (gear, vehicles, customization, things to do, classes)
• Space is an absolute shit mini-game.
• No mods.

Honestly, I have to give WOW a lot of credit that game is old and is still the Gold standard for MMOs. Only thing SWTOR does better is Quests and Voicework IMO, WOW has too many fetch quests/kill this many boars.

Personally I liked SWG better than SWTOR. You had like 30+ professions to choose from and could master I think like 2 1/2 that you could change at any time. Everything from a musician, crafter, merchant, smuggler, to more traditional combat roles. Tons of customization, your own personalized homes and guild cities, real space sim with lots of ships to choose from and customize, planets were huge sandboxes. Was lacking in questing and dungeons though. Then they decided to make it into a WOW clone and ruined it.

My top SW games all time:

• KOTOR I/II
• Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
• Battlefront II
• X-Wing/Tie-Fighter
• SWG (Pre-New Game Enhancements)

You should try the Old Republic again, it went free to play so you're not out anything. It's worth it for the new lore imo.

Its more of a funding issue than a quality of product issue.

Sony outbid Microsoft in negotiations of exclusivity. We should be thankful they're releasing it for PC as well but that's because the PC-market has exploded worldwide and cannot be ignored.

With Sony, they have more funding to make a Triple-A experience, although chances are it'll be a timed exclusive, probably.

Also, as far as guesses for a release date, the original KOTOR was released on July 15th, 2003. It'd be a nice homage if the remake was released on the 20th anniversary.

Yeah, its a long ways off, but by then they'll be tens of millions more PS5s on the market and Aspr, who has no experience with independently developing Triple-A games, will have plenty of time to develop a worthy remake.




As for the 'Sony fucked up Star Wars Galaxy' point, the developer was unproven to make such a large-scale product in the first place, and that was well over 15+ years ago. The leadership at Sony has changed several times over since then. I'd say Aspr is the unknown factor here if they're capable of handling such a project.

For the past 20+ years they've ONLY developed ports of existing games to other consoles and IOS.

This will be their FIRST attempt at developing a Triple-A game from the ground up, and there's no way to tell if its going to be awesome or if its going to suck.

KOTOR is at worst my #2 game of all time (Mass Effect 2 is my #1). I'm likely going to play this no matter what, but Sony left an awful taste in my mouth since SWG when they pulled a bait and switch where they dropped a new expansion that coincided with ROTS and like 2 days in they completely revamped the game without telling any of their customers. Basically everything you worked for over years gone in one day. Liked your class, gone completely. Went from 30+ to 8 basic ones.

Honestly, there hasn't been a great SW game since KOTOR II IMO. Some decent but none great. I'm still gonna play since I'm a SW addict lol, but I'm not expecting greatness.

I never got into KOTOR 1 though. I thought it played like ass on the xbox, and the pc version never properly supported widescreen. You couldnt improve it as much as KOTOR 2, that game still looks good.

I'm excited to play this, I just hope they do it justice.
