This looks like a MTV B Movie

The trailer has this generic ass rock music over it.....

Why do movies from the 80's have the best music ?

I was thinking the Kickboxer theme from 1989 was better than the new music chosen in the trailer. I hope the new movie has sick training sequences with Sensei Van Damme.

In the original Kickboxer I always embraced the fight preparation and training montages.

LOL

I'll never argue against the effectiveness of MT, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the most boring martial arts on earth.
It's up there with gi jits for being boring to everyone except aficionados, but if you took the techniques and applied Hollywood choreography and exaggerated movement I think it would work great.

sword fighting...? This plot looks like it went wildly off the rails.

Garbage, just another movie to give people unrealistic expectations of what fighting is like

Why even add the "vengence" to the title? Just call it kickboxer - it's an obvious remake with pretty much the exact same plot and iconic scenes

Bautista looks pretty intimidating

I thought GSP would be taking on the original JCVD role

No way in hell they'd let him lead a movie. He was barely even allowed to speak in Captain America. There's a reason for that.

He's got the accent and rigid range that 89' JCVD has. He's probably worse than JCVD but is this movie even being released in theaters?

Anyways, my reasoning was due to they announced Bautista and GSP as the stars when this first came out so I just assumed.

I actually that JCVD is, and always has been, underrated as an actor.

I think he got better as he got older -- especially playing more grittier and comedic characters.

But 80's and 90's JCVD was one dimensional. Heavily Exaggerated "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh's" after a kick or punch.

Watch the original kickboxer and see how horrible he plays "drunk"..."y day wnt to hert me"

Ironically, it's was one of his more hilarious scenes, just unintentionally.

Definitely has got better, though.

Is --> Yes, he has improved a lot.

Always has been --> He was pretty bad for a long time.

He may have had limited range when he was younger, but I think that within that range he was quite good. Much better than he's given credit for.

His best performance is probably JCVD, but I actually think his second best is Double Impact. The way that he not only played two very different characters, but also had to perform against a character that wasn't actually there, is legitimately impressive.

I just hope we get some sweet dance moves.

Well, I got a kick out of when gangster Van Damme looked at regular Van Damme (basically his character from Kickboxer, Bloodsport, etc.) and says, "Look at him.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:."

He was actually good in: JCVD, Expendables 2, Universal Soldier: Regeneration

He definitely could have been worse in Double Impact, under the circumstances and demands.

After watching the performances in Deadly Prey, one does appreciate that Van Damme could usually deliver ordinary lines without reading false. There is certainly a level far below that: Deadly Prey, Rousey, Couture, Carano, adult Linda Blair, etc.
