He did a Jon Fitch "control first" point fight. I don't know how you can even argue that, the crucifix had hilarious tippy tap strikes to the point the broadcast booth were joking about it.

Khamzat had positional dominance. To say that is a mauling is to pretend GNP doesn't exist in other fights and nobody has eyeballs.





I don't think Dricus was content, he was just completely out classed. Khamzat is the best wrestler in the sport right now and if he decides to point wrestle you and pace himself, there is nothing Dricus could do about it.

What was shocking (more than the unexpected point fighting approach) is that Dricus wasn't even sprawling. His counter wrestling should have looked like Usman - get your hips back and legs out, jog away. He showed up completely unprepared and wrongly assumed (like many of us) that Khamzat would gas out after a few rounds.

Khamzat could've risked it more, but since he was cruising to a decision, it was on Dricus (or Goddard) to make an effort to change the direction of the fight.

Chimaev took zero risks to finish the fight and DDP took zero risks to get out of the positions. He was 100% fully content to just protect his neck and stay out of sketchy scrambles. For five fucking rounds while losing his belt he had that approach, it was maddening.
