Khamzat vs Khabib Grappling Skills

Seeing the way Dricus stalled Khamzat out (I personally think Dricus was at fault for it being boring, as he didn't take the risks to get up and win the fight), got me thinking about the old question about who is the better chin beard grappler.

Khabib wins for me IMO. His shot isn't as explosive but he's way more schooled technically. He'd have submitted Dricus or GnP'd him into mush.

Both guys have amazing genetics for grappling but the difference lies in schooling. I think Khamzat might even have better natural talent than Khabib, it's just that he didn't have a master coach as a father.

Khamzat is better getting takedowns Khabib has better offense on ground. Both pretty much equal overall. Khsmzat is better than Mak but Mak is a better more complete fighter.

Khabib because he's able to control while still able to throw heavy GnP. The reason many grapplers and wrestles dont have Khabibs GnP is because theyre worried they'll lose their position and control. Khabib would land vicious GnP while never losing control

Tibau has statistically better TDD% than Usman and Khabib was 23, plus Tibau was seeing Khamzat's epo dealer. Khamzat struggled (again) in the grappling against Usman, like he did against Burns, and just coasted to a decision. Like he just did with DDP.

Nowhere near as dominant a grappler. A wet blanket compared to Khabib.

It was an extremely close fight that could've gone either way. If the fight were 5 rounds Usman likely wins. "Ran over" means total domination. That's not what happened.

He fractured his arm after 1st round. Didn't want to go to ground vs Burns, who is a high level black belt.

The difference is Khabib straight mauls on the ground. No pitter-patter and more of a sub-hunter

I’d say his positional advancements and control on the ground are superior. Khabib passes guard better and more fluently and I feel he would have attempted a couple full-strength face-cranks that were present a few times. Also, Khabib is more of a kimura guy, whereas from crucifix Khamzat preferred to chase the key-lock when he seen it. A move a lot harder to pull off on a gorilla imo




Props to DDP, even though he was stuck, he kept his neck safe at all times, protected having his back fully taken most of the fight, and although out-wrestled, he wasn’t getting submitted

Khamzat's takedown is phenomenal

but Khabib's game is completley different. Khabib is much better at mauling you after he gets you there.

Khamzat tbh is great at his first rd pursuit of the submission but hes not really doing damage from the top with strikes.

Khabib does alot more with that. Him figure fouring the legs, then standing and blasting before locking it back up. Brutal

Both guys are fantastic at draining the guys lifebar when they leaning on you.

Khabib never beat anyone that has done what Dricus has. That is a better win than every Khabib win.

Khamzat isn't as good as suffocating people on the mat as Khabib but he's pretty much as close as anyone. He may not be as slick as Islam when it comes to catching subs but he's pretty much as close as anyone without being from that team.

He's a big problem for anyone from WW to LHW.
