Khamzat Psychoanalysis

I don't get this "former LW" nonsense. Burns was 6-1 at WW in the UFC prior to fighting Chimaev - he just fought for the title against Usman and had him hurt.

I would argue Chimaev was probably worse at 170 due to his weight cut much like I believe Poatan is worse at 185.

We never read that Strickland and Robert are WWs, but for some reasons Burns is a LW... <WhatItIs>

It's always a good laugh seeing people suggest professional cage fighters are scared.

I too got my psychology degree in a box of Wheaties.

Come on dude... seriously?

Pro fighters are scared of losing, not of fighting someone. The amount they train and spar the actual fighting is second nature to them no doubt.

You don't think they have fear of losing and being embarrassed?
P

He still fought at LW though. I’m sure almost getting slept by someone that fought two weight classes below you is a tough pill to swallow for someone that “kills everybody”. You can never be the same after that.
Remember when Glover lost to a former WW? Guess he could never be the same after that and become champion

and on Saturday he's fighting a welterweight, not even a real middleweight!!

At least if he fights DDP he will fight a REAL middleweight

wait he's also a former welterweight

alright but STRICKLAND THEN!!

wait former welterweight...

ALRIGHT BUT SOMEBODY ELSE!!!!!

There is a reason that layman's diagnosis is frowned upon and discouraged in the mental health community.

Yeah, and obviously it could go further than that; losing status, not getting sponsors or a title shot, all of those go into it. It might not be rightly called a fear though as much as just knowing one's limitations. Tito was never really afraid of Chuck physically- he just understood the reality that he would probably lose, and his brand would suffer; that was the reason for his ducking.

I think Kham is protecting his brand carefully. Off the couch Usman really looked like he would have taken Kham into deep waters if that had been a five-round fight. Kham knows he might not match up well against some of the best, especially late in a 5 round fight when he can't hold someone down anymore.

GSP kept taking guys down to the end of the 5th round, he didn't start to faulter the longer the fight went on like Kham.

Pro-fighter got mental disorder from punch inside of the fight he won?
Ffs this fucking thing happen all the time.

I just want people to think for two goddamn seconds before they shit something out their wordhole.

I'm not a huge fan, and I recognize he has been unreliable but I don't think fear has anything to do with that.

Ironically OP is saying this from behind a keyboard.

Lots of fighters are scared before they fight. Totally normal. I never competed in MMA but I used to play junior hockey where I fought often and all the dudes I played / fought with told me the same thing. Lots of former enforcers talk about it all the time too.

I was mostly just in it for the puck bunnies at that point. I knew I wasn’t going to make the NHL. I was willing to lose sleep the night before a game with a few teams who had legitimate top tier HW’s just for the ladies.

Rip. We need Khamzat the killer in the octagon. It's dangerous anytime a fighter talks about his family and issues he's dealing with

I can't wait for him to finish Whittaker quickly and yell kill everybody to piss everyone here off. I like how you can overlook his clean wins and focus on his close victories. MW wrestling is pretty garbage and no one besides Robocop is Burns off their back.
Middleweight has garbage wrestling with a 3* NCAA champion in it. Now that is a dumb take.

I’m a part-time psychologist, not a fighter.

My analysis of TS;, a whole lot of projection.of his own insecurities and fears onto fighters, in this case Khamzat.

Same old story on SD.

When he first came to the UFC he was running through everyone and I truly believe he felt invincible. Then he got taken to the brink against a former LW and almost got KO’d, and realized that wasn’t the case. Since then he’s been avoiding top MWs because he’s terrified of getting KO’d in the octagon. All of these pull outs and “illnesses” are physical manifestations of fear (I.e., somatic symptom disorder), like a child that vomits before going to school because of a bully. Now he’s backed into a corner and must fight a legit MW contender.

He will be exposed on Saturday.
You put a lot of work into that!?

I don't think you know what psychoanalysis is.
