No. By the standards of grappling heavy MMA fights, Khamzat v. DDP was exceptionally boring. The problem isn't primarily grappling and wrestling; it's having two fighters, one of whom puts in no effort at all and the other of whom puts in the minimum effort necessary. DDP put in a disgraceful performance and Khamzat took advantage to coast. Khamzat, while not giving a fan-friendly performance, didn't really do anything wrong--he took what was far-and-away the most likely path to victory under the circumstances--and there's no particular reason to expect his future fights to be nearly so boring, but that's mostly because there's no reason to expect his future opponents to put in performances where they don't try to win or even fight. No one else is going to let Khamzat fight five rounds at essentially zero risk of gassing out.

It really should be much easier than it appears to be for Khamzat fans to say something along the lines of "yes, the fight was incredibly boring. Blame DDP for doing his best imitation of a turtle for 23 minutes and cut Khamzat some slack for showing good fight IQ and taking advantage of DDP's mistakes to secure the easy W."

Everyone should just conform to this opinion. It’s the most reasonable.

If you’d actually read my posts before this fight, you’d know I wasn’t blindly cheering for him, and I wasn’t cheering for DDP either. A stubborn refusal to accept logical arguments, in favor of wishful thinking.

That's usually called being a fan, same as in other sports if your favorite football team is the champion and make it back to the final game you root for them even if they are the betting underdog. Their is a emotional element to being a sports fan, refusal to accept logic is fine before when you still have faith that your fighter or team will win. Just don't make excuses after if they lose.

People generally don't complain when a fighter gets his opponent for full rounds in a body triangle. Crucifix is essentially the same thing: a very dominant control, almost impossible to escape but perfectly survivable for high level fighters.

Personally, I think both these positions suck for the audience. I don't blame the fighters, but it creates round long stalemates.
