Khamzat is polarizing, I know why you are FURIOUS.

Ppl are just hating because they don't appreciate all aspects of MMA. They want bar brawls, street fights, & just bleed fights. They have no clue how incredibly hard & tiring it is to be successful in the way of how Khamzat fights. Anyone who doesn't appreciate Khamzat doing what he did with such ease is someone who has never trained & fought. So don't get frustrated with some, they just truly don't know any better.
I don't think you need to train to be able to appreciate the fight, but if after years of watching UFC and still hating the ground game you are unquestionably a fucking retard.

Khamzat fans seething about the fight being called boring has been very entertaining!

I was rooting for DDP, but it does get tiring when...

1) You have clearly exceptional elite fighters who keep on winning and every single time people find a way to try and detract from it instead of just accepting that they're witnessing something special. You as a Jon fan should be all too aware of this.

2) People choosing to watch a sport thats whole identity is based around allowing both striking and wrestling, then being annoyed when they see a wrestling heavy fight occasionally.

We should turn this cringe into a meme format.

Though it’s not as funny as Teh jab and other Sherdog legends.

I’d say the vast majority of people don’t have a problem with wrestling when it leads to damage and (ultimately) finishes. For some reason, people here are conflating distaste towards boring grappling as distaste towards all grappling, thereby implying that all grappling is inherently boring.

It was awesome. Still immensely enjoyable on second and third viewing. No easy task rendering a fierce beast like Dricus completely helpless. On a personal level, it was very reminiscent of the GSP glory days.

We should change the rules, grappling and wrestling is ruining MMA.
No. By the standards of grappling heavy MMA fights, Khamzat v. DDP was exceptionally boring. The problem isn't primarily grappling and wrestling; it's having two fighters, one of whom puts in no effort at all and the other of whom puts in the minimum effort necessary. DDP put in a disgraceful performance and Khamzat took advantage to coast. Khamzat, while not giving a fan-friendly performance, didn't really do anything wrong--he took what was far-and-away the most likely path to victory under the circumstances--and there's no particular reason to expect his future fights to be nearly so boring, but that's mostly because there's no reason to expect his future opponents to put in performances where they don't try to win or even fight. No one else is going to let Khamzat fight five rounds at essentially zero risk of gassing out.

It really should be much easier than it appears to be for Khamzat fans to say something along the lines of "yes, the fight was incredibly boring. Blame DDP for doing his best imitation of a turtle for 23 minutes and cut Khamzat some slack for showing good fight IQ and taking advantage of DDP's mistakes to secure the easy W."

he managed to beat a whole Gracie Barra team alone, he will wrestle Khamzat and beat him at his own game.

The absolute peak talking point in the leadup for DDP fans imo

Boring fights are always gonna happen here and there though, its not like this is the norm for Khamzat either. Its the inevitable melodrama whenever certain fighters win that gets tiring. If Khamzat had gotten into a competitive firefight there would have been people criticising him for having a low fight IQ or not dominating or whatever. There will always be something.

Anyway, boring as it was, it was one fight out of hundreds of UFC fights per year, nearly 50 main events. Nobody here actually paid $80 to watch it and theres another card literally next weekend with a main event that almost certainly results in a quick finish. It wasnt even a typical performance for Khamzat either like I said. You'd think the fucking world is ending based on the overly dramatic emotionally charged reactions.

Khamzat lived up to the nick name of "Borzzz" in that hugfest because it was extremely boring

Even the crowd who was on his side in the beginning was booing all that hugging

Khamzat fans who are defending that hugfest better keep up that same energy when other huggers like Gamrot or Mosvar do this

It was a fun time leading up to the fight.

A lot of sherdoggers were very emotional to the point of derangement.

A stubborn refusal to accept logical arguments, in favor of wishful thinking.
Before the fight I said there would be a lot of tears if Khamzat won and all the salty posts have definitely delivered.

Unfortunately it’s typical for many champions to fight very boring and cautious. They fight not to lose. Ratlip showcased his championship style on Saturday night.
Dricus literally refused to scramble and was okay with losing round after round just to avoid giving Chimaev any space and opportunity.

Even in freestyle wrestling, passivity is forbidden

I agree, but tbh the same can be said about the current champion. He didn’t really try to posture up for gnp, for fear not to lose his position, nor did he really go for any real submission attempt, because that would have created a possibility to scramble and escape position.

Remember when Pantoja apologized to the fans for being a bit boring in his last fight against Royval? He said he had no choice because Brandon is so good in scrambling and he couldn’t risk losing position.
This was 100 times more boring.

You are talking to a guy, who wants to see Costa get the next title shot, his definition of entertainment, should not be taken into consideration. <WhatItIs>

Actually my number one option is Rodolfo Vieira, would be most interesting stylistically. I wouldn’t mind RDR or Caio getting the shot either. Costa would be fun because of their history (and I can see Dana making that happen) and I also think that he is a different type of fighter than DDP.

Impressive for sure, but once you spent a minute watching a crucifix, there is really nothing else to watch in that fight.

Entirely DDP's fault though, abysmal take down defense, he was probably overconfident in his grappling abilities.

Takes TWO to tango friend…Khamzat “The Quilt” talking about killing everybody and then that dry hump fest. DDP could not stop the groping so he is to blame as well.

Blame both not one you silly incel.

Unfortunately, in MMA grappling under the unified rules, passivity is explicitly allowed:
Timidity (avoiding contact, or consistently dropping the mouthpiece, or faking an injury;
a. Timidity is defined as any fighter who purposely avoids contact with his opponent or runs away from the action of the fight. Timidity can also be called by the referee for any attempt by a fighter to receive time by falsely claiming a foul, injury, or purposely dropping or spitting out their mouthpiece or other action designed to stall or delay the action of the fight
Grappling inherently excludes avoiding contact and however boring it may be it's always part of the action of the fight, so as long as a fighter isn't trying to manipulate the ref into calling time and isn't absorbing damage sufficient for a TKO, passivity in grappling is allowed. Perhaps this is a rule that should be updated.
