Khamzat is a wrestler

That said, the days of wrestlers dominating MMA are over. Everyone cross trains now and TDD has improved. I'm with you that wrestling is a great base for MMA but it's not enough anymore. Khamzat is successful because he has great grappling and striking to go along with his wrestling.

You're easily one of my favorite posters on here. I think Russian rasslers still kinda look down on MMA, which is foolish, IMO. They'll eventually turn around though. MMA is too awesome. No can defend the allure of the ultimate pro combat sport.

D1 just parrots the same shit and gets defensive when he is wrong.
Hitto and Ackmed at least seem to take their L's gracefully.
Will be interesting to see how Ackmed spins Islam's upcoming KO loss though @Ackmed what will you do if Dober out wrestles ya boi then KOs him

You're calling them a wrestler and a sambo guy. Oh you mean the practice wrestling and sambo matches Khamzat and Khabib did for MMA? If you're gonna say it's only defined by what they're majorly competing in, then they're MMA fighters. Choose a logic and distinction, please. Either they're what they compete in or what they train in. Khabib trained in wrestling years before he trained in sambo. Then he competed in sambo, then transitioned to MMA, all the while still training freestyle wrestling techniques with freestyle wrestlers. Khamzat trained and competed in wrestling, judo, and sambo, and now competes in MMA.

I didn't realize him being wrestling, judo, and sambo, the same way khabib does sambo, judo, and wrestling all in the arena of mixed martial arts isn't good enough for you. But nothing ever is for you, is it? Spin it however you like so you 'take some credit' in some way over Khamzat succeeding. Must be purely because of the non-sambo wrestling, according to your insane labeling.

Huh? Khamzat competed and trained wrestling his entire life when he transitioned to mma he did literally 4 sambo matches for experience in 2019 while also competing in Brave FC, a year after turning pro to get more fights. His youth is nothing but wrestling comps through 2018

Fair enough I’m not the biggest Khabib fan personally, at least as a person I know he’s doing some real good in the world he just has some really problematic(I know that’s a dirty word nowadays) views when it comes to how fervent he is with his religion. But I must admit it is pretty hilarious watching D1 get defensive after Justin lost to Khabib.

Boy went from “muh leg kicks and my D1 all American” to radio silence real quick.
 
One could argue that Sambo is a better base than wrestling due to all of the grappling involved which isn't acceptable in wrestling.
