Khamzat Chimaev has changed the MMA meta

Smesh and Rule

And the coconuts

It also has to do with the way COVID has affected card making.

Its left a space open for willing fighters to shine where before, they wouldnt have the same oppurtunities.

This, the smart fighters are making the best of this opportunity to get more attention and really build up. Best example is Khamzat and Kevin Holland its crazy how much they rose up in 2020

"what they gonna do to beat me?? they do nothing. I am the Wolf, brother"

At this point I'm most interested to see how he'd handle someone with insane BJJ, like Maia.

Maia gets KTFO with ease, Chimaev would be retarded to take it to the ground. Somebody like a Gilbert Burns with elite bjj and great stand up is Chimaev's toughest matchup.

What about Whittaker?

Does that really need to be explained?

Lots of quick turnarounds because of COVID.
I mean, some guys used to fight 2-3 times a night. This shit ain't new
Cowboy wants to have a word about that statement
He didn't change anything. There were fighters willing to fight as often as possible since the dawn of MMA.
Cowboy certainly did it before it was fashionable...
The Cripple was doing it before it was cool. But nice troll thread
Burners did it before Chimaev was even a thing

It's not new. Cowboy was known for doing this shit too, fighting 5-6 times a year on multiple occasions, also did 2 week turnarounds.

(If you got quoted, assume I would have given you a like if I had any. Fans with attention spans deserve respect.)

Regardless of Cerrone or Magny in the past, UFC has clearly increased the quantity of fighters making quick turnarounds at once during COVID.

Yeah, but it's cuz of covid, not cuz a guy is setting some sort of new standard
I’m aware and that’s what I said.

At the same time maybe UFC did notice how well the quick turnaround worked out for Khamzat’s marketbility, and is repeating the strategy for certain fighters like Joaquin Buckley in order to help build a star.

What about Bisping getting melted by Fat Kelvin 2 weeks after tapping to GSP?

Khamzat is awesome, but Cowboy is the guy who has been doing that already in the past decade. He had 4 fights a year and has done it 6 times. How crazy is that? And he's been stepping up to fight promising up and comers, known vets, and former champions, not unheard of fighters and new comers in the low level competition.

It's just because of covid. I hope it goes back to normal soon. recovery time is important to longevity and health of a fighter.

If this becomes standard, they'll be shorter athletic primes.

Not to mention fight quality might become ass if it becomes common with not enough gameplanning and skirt training camps.

But I do commend the guys doing it and trying to secure the bag
I think it is ok when you have fights like Chimaev and Figgy Smalls. Those guys went in there and took no damage, had quick fights.

Valentina also said she would like to fight again soon, she doesnt like the long layoff she had.

Cowboy certainly did it before it was fashionable.
Adesanya has been doing it before Covid..
Neil Magney had a good stretch too.

cowboy and Adesanya certainly changed it in my
Opinion.
Khazmat is following cowboy and Adesanya’s leads
This is a different thing.
Chimaev and Figueirdo are taking fights where they stick around abu dhabi for a few weeks and fight again. They are also only able to do this by having complete dominations, and having no injuries.
In that sense, this goes all the way back to PRIDEFC,where some fighters would stay in Japan after a fight, and maybe go on a bushido card in a few weeks, and fight again.

Figgy Smalls is extraordinary in that he is willing to defend his title with such a quick turnaround. This is something new.

Angie Hill is booked for her 9th fight since the start of 2019, she's the current Queen of activity.
