Khalil Rountree Jr's Oblique Kick ........

Eyepokes and headbutts are JUST AS EFFECTIVE, or even MORE EFFECTIVE, than oblique knee attacks. Just two banned attacks of several.

But they aren't allowed, are they? Why?

Because they AREN'T SPORTING.

Anyone have a rebuttal for the above?

What the fuck is "SPORTING"?

It's a fucking fight in a cage.

Are elbow's to the head "SPORTING"?

Fuck are you on about?

“fuck them knees boi”

I mean I could moralise and shit but Robo uses oblique kicks a fuck ton so I’ll be a hypocrite.

With that said tho I find them to be kinda nasty.

You aren't getting the point.

It soon WON'T be legal. Because it isn't sporting.

How much are we going to bet? A symbolic dollar it is. The next time the Unified Rules of MMA are revisited for modifications, I am saying it will be banned.

I will frame the dollar.

And if something happens and I am wrong, I will get you a framed dollar.

Sporting? LOL.

Watch golf.

Sure you don't. You've definitely bitched about his kicks in the past, you seem like that type of two faced shit-wipe.
Someone’s angry. Did @ HHJ fuck your girl?

Wouldn’t put it past him :p;)

Fuckin tremendous.

He kicked him when the guy planted his foot to throw a strike

im not a fan of the technique but that was perfect. Timing

I wonder if the same people would have a problem with it if Bukauskas did that to Roundtree

hmmmm
No,why the fuck would we? I dont have any special feeling about Roundtree.

It's been repeated ad nauseum but to say that oblique kicks ought to be illegal is hypocritical as fuck. Same folks who celebrate wheel kick KOs and post consciousness ground-and-pound.

5+ years ago you had ppl commenting on this very same technique like...
why don't you show us how it's done then, if it's so easily done and super effective like you claim to be... i'll be waiting for your video.. with the ref raising your hand ofcourse
I've had a few people do it to me and I've done it to others.
It's not really a damaging strike, its more annoyance and mind games. Makes you think twice about rushing in cause the guy is kicking your knee but apart from that it doesn't do much else.
If you take a side stance I think your opponent would see it coming, I know I would.
Nothing frustrates me more than some TMA dork talking about effectivnes in MMA.How many legs have you broken that way?
Your sidekick to the shin or kneecap would do devastating damage................................. if your opponent just stood there in a heavily rooted stance and doesn't move.
/THREAD
Too hard to aim, you would need a very accurate hard kick and a professional fighter probably wont give you the time to hit it before moving.
And now suddenly it's too deadly for MMA. xD

Its legal and in the rules so I don't know why the commentators are acting so weird about it.. this is supposed to be Ultimate Fighting!!! I think this is getting lost on too many people these days

Dude I couldn't agree more!
If we are fine with head trauma we can't ban stuff that is less dangerous than that, makes no sense at all.

On that note its a massive oversight that groin strikes and small joint manipulation is illegal but thats what you get with these commission people I guess.

The most bizarre unjustly illegal technique is by far the "fish-hook" since that is easily countered by biting anyways (which should also be legal, atleast on non vital stuff like fingers) .

Alright ima go to sparring now and grab some people by the hair, see ya later

They need to ban the oblique kick. You can get instant ligament damage from it. At least with submission attempts, the opposing fighter knows a sub could be coming and can tap before it happens. Whereas with this kick, you don't have any warning and then when it lands properly, can instantly turn your knee into mush. This is one of the more severe examples of it, but we've seen fighters get their leg torn up from this. Look at Whittaker vs Yoel and how it fucked Whittaker's knee up from the start.

IF we gonna continue to let this move exist, then we need to allow head butts, knees to downed opponents, kicks to the head, groin strikes, etc. I mean, its a fight right, so everything should be legal? Or should we consider this a sport and have some rules in place to help protect the longevity of its fighters? Obviously brain damage is worse than ligament damage, but the latter will force you out of MMA quicker than the brain damage will (usually shows up later in life).

Someone with enough rank needs to create a poll.
