Khalil Rountree Jr's Oblique Kick ........

How can it be a dinky little kick if it fucks him up that badly? It's a brutally effective, perfectly timed and executed technique.
And his opponent telegraphed his next move. The oppurtunity for victory was right there.

Let's say fighters now focus much more on these kicks, and every card 1 or 2 fights end with wrecked ACLs. That's a good outcome? Injury TKOs suck.

Yup. It's the beauty of a brutal sport.

Who wants to see fighters get wiped out for a year or even careers over for a dinky little kick to the side of the knee?

Yes it's an effective technique but who wants to watch fights end like that?
Should also ban checking kicks in that case

Then the game changes and people will find ways to avoid them and/or punish them.

This has been a hot topic since Jon Jones used them so well. That was like 10 yrs ago. I dont think we will see them used any more than they already have been. Hell fedor used them on Nogueira in fuckin 2004.

Exact. Thats the way it should be.

I wonder if the same people would have a problem with it if Bukauskas did that to Roundtree

hmmmm

It actually DOES. Such a very LEGAL but low class strike IMHO.

Okay so a extremely effective move is a low class strike because it works very well in a sport where your goal is to hurt the other person as much as possible.

Great logic there!

Eyepokes and headbutts are JUST AS EFFECTIVE, or even MORE EFFECTIVE, than oblique knee attacks. Just two banned attacks of several.

But they aren't allowed, are they? Why?

Because they AREN'T SPORTING.

Anyone have a rebuttal for the above?

It's not low-class because it works well. Who told you that?

Sure. Legs are your weapons and weapons should also be allowed to be targets. Or else the dynamic of fighting is hindered a lot. Eyes aren't weapons and are a million times more fragile. I personally don't really have a problem with headbutts, but those are just banned because they were deemed barbaric by people who know fuck all about fighting.

Exactly.

I want as few rules as possible, but there ARE some rules, because this is a SPORT.

Yeah while we are at it let's take out all the joint lock submissions to because those hurt people's joints all the time also.

No more knees to the face either because those cause brain damage and have broken orbital bones before!

Why can you hit someone with an elbow to their brain/skull with no pads on it!?

Like seriously...

How many fighters have had Career changing/ending injuries from this technique which has been popular for years now...

Exactly!

One is allowed. the others arent. Who cares what some guy on a forum thinks is sporting?? if its legal, you can train to use it.

This was one of the best timed and perfectly placed kicks I've ever seen.
Its beautiful and deadly martial arts. Its why i tune the fuck in.

You aren't getting the point.

It soon WON'T be legal. Because it isn't sporting.

How much are we going to bet? A symbolic dollar it is. The next time the Unified Rules of MMA are revisited for modifications, I am saying it will be banned.

I will frame the dollar.

And if something happens and I am wrong, I will get you a framed dollar.

You know this sporting argument is completely subjective, right?
