No. Most top ten fighters had no reason to give a guy not ranked, and then barely ranked in the top 15 a shot. He beat a fringe top ten guy, got pushed up to fifth and promptly fought a top ten guy, like most fighters would who are top ten. But yes, he was the victim. I disagree about RDA, he hasn't had a win against a LW in almost a year against old, pre-retirement Felder. I'd say he is more in the Chandler, Conor, Ferguson level of the division.

Well who would you recommend then?
Right now the top contenders for TS are Islam, Daruish, and Gaethje. You need a 4th person to matchup with them. I think RDA is ranked 6th and is coming off a win over Felder (unlike Chandler, Conor, and Tony who are all coming off of multiple losses).
Otherwise like I said the 4th person would likely be the loser of Dustin/Charles

Islam has had a far more difficult time breaking into the top 10 and that is purposely because other so called top ranked fighters ducked him. Most would agree that Islam should have been far higher in the rankings many fights ago

As much as I favor chances of Gaetjhe vs Olivera turning out to be a major barn-burner if the fight ever happened, Islam's victory over Hooker which took less than 3 minutes has as much impact as Chandler's KO of Hooker in the first round.

The same KO that landed Chandler an immediate title shot and a knockout of the night bonus for!

So, Islam has a stronger case for receiving the title shot over Gaetjhe.

However...

It wasn't the first time that a wrestling and sambo practitioner took an incredibly skilled BJJ practitioner down to the ground, only for them to eat a fight-ending submission that he couldn't get out of as a result of it.

Could Islam still win the LW strap even if his grappling ability gets completely neutralized (and potentially from the start)?

Gaethje decisioned a guy ate big shots and was limping after the match how is that better than Makhachev submitting Hooker in 1 and not taking a shot.

Justin got into the top ten by being an undefeated champion in another organization who fights in exciting fights. They gave him the seventh ranked guy. Maybe if Islam didn't get finished by a guy who had just lost to Cerrone and barely won by split over Khabilov, while being exciting and able to fight more than once a year for a while there, he would have gotten more opportunities. He had a chance to get a better push and dropped out as well. But yes, a conspiracy and a victim.
