Khabib is pretty Overrated atm

His striking is still suspect. Rushing in with your chin up will cost you eventually.

He has the best striking defense at LW and a great chin. The only real chance anyone has at KOing Khabib is at WW.

Maybe someone can catch him with a kick, but if arguably the best kicker in MMA (Barboza) couldn't do that... Then I don't see who else could.

Kevin Lee is a superior fighter all around than Khabib along with being much younger / having a much higher ceiling and is ridiculously underrated. Yet Khabib is hailed as a god, for beating who exactly?

Great fighter but I feel he has yet to meet someone who's been able to truly expose the glaring holes In his game / style.

Even seasoned boxers can stray away from it and one properly placed punch can do it. I'm not convinced he permanently fixed it yet. I have no beef with him at all, but if anyone is going to get him it's going to be in the striking department. Unless he faces Ben Askren.

Don't think proclaiming Khabib to be this unbeatable force when there were still questions would've been any better.

Many of the questions and holes surrounding Khabib were quite valid at the time. Particularly In the striking department and also his tendency of rushing forward with his chin up, hands down In a clinch attempt.

So I'm fine with it. Obviously should've been worded more Intelligently, particularly the title but It Is what it is.

True. Anything can happen in MMA. But if even the best boxer in the world tried to fight Khabib in MMA he would probably get dominated. Good striking has to be combined with excellent TDD to beat Khabib, and IMO nobody he hasn't already beat at LW matches that description.

Meh... Just unlikely man. Like I said, at LW he can only lose (MOST LIKELY) by a close decision. At WW the chances of him getting KO'd increase significantly, especially if it's a striker with great TDD like Woodley.

Ben Askren could definitely match Khabib's wrestling at WW but his striking is worse than Khabib's. Interesting match-up but I don't think it'll happen.
 
Until he fights Tony I can't say. His run at LW has been lacking strong American wrestlers and/or dogs like Tony. Perhaps we'll see it one day. Khabibs style is perfect to beat all LW though and can only see Gillespie or Tony presenting a real challenge.

His running from Tony after Conor is pissing me off. First for getting suspended then not doing the required work to come back in 6 months and instead wants to make it a year.

Lee has no cardio or heart so thats an easy fight for Khabib. Gillespie is really only wrestler I see an issue.

I dunno if he's scared of Tony, but I think they really want to preserve the Khabib Conor rematch. Stylistically Tony matches up well against him, It's not certain but Tony could very well win that fight.

It's not just Khabib, I think It's also not a risk the UFC is willing to take. Sucks for Tony, I'd like to see It..but It might not make the most sense business wise for them.

He'll get his shot eventually, but by that point It seems like he'll be getting up there In age.

He rolled with Marcelo Garcia. I'm not just talking Ben's wrestling. But BJJ, and Ben wont be striking. That's what I'm saying to you. I know the deal there bro. But I appreciate your reply.

Lol bro idk what your point is honestly. Khabib has dominated black belts. He would have performed the same, if not, better against Garcia than Ben did.

All I'm saying is if anyone beats him other than strikers who land the perfect shot it would probably be Ben Askren who is an Olympic wrestler and is known for his ground game not standup fighting or knockouts. I thought that shit was clear? Bro we don't know who will win on the ground. Both Excel at that. I'm not sticking up for any Fighter, just telling you the facts. I've been around this shit enough to know. Ive seen both debut and fight and I'm not a huge fan of either. Probably more for Khabib then Ben, we don't know yet. Haven't seen anyone that can challenge Khabib on the ground yet.

Remember GSP is trying to get a fight with Khabib. If GSP wants to fight you, means you aren't really instilling fear in the MMA community(except fear of poverty among the 155 division whose careers are in limbo). Khabib didn't finish Al and Conor didn't belong in that situation in the first place. Is Conor terrible or is that a Khabib win over a super challenging opponent?

Poirer vs Khabib, would go exactly the same way as Khabib vs McGregor, Barboza etc. A striker is NOT going to be the one to beat Khabib..
Ferguson on the other hand, is terrific off his back, thus he has a decent chance.

A wise person questions more than he is certain. To his credit, Khabib Is a far more proven fighter at this point and he's fixed many of those holes In his game. Particularly In his boxing, he also seems far more Intelligent In his approach to takedowns where as back then..you'd see him rush forward a lot for a clinch, chin up, hands down. That's something I felt would get him Into a lot of trouble eventually and It's not something you see him do anymore.


I still think that Kevin Lee matches up well against him and will be a future champ. All In all, It wasn't bad analysis for the time period. The epitome of most people's thought process about Khabib was that he was unbeatable and nobody could touch him. This thread was calling that Into question and suggesting that maybe It's a bit premature.

Even if true kevin will never get to fight Khabib. Khabib probably has 2-3 fights left. Tony, maybe GSP, maybe a Conor rematch, maybe Poirier ..

Kevin Lee coming off that loss to IaAuinta will have to get back on a win streak and his days at 155 are numbered.
