Keyboard Jockey Attempts Two AR-15 Builds

Speaking of looking like a toy...

This thing dropping the mag as the last round is chambered sorta rules.

That thing is fucking sexy looking.

ARGH! I WANT A NEW JOB MAKING ME MORE MONEY!

I've been following that company. Interesting concepts. 2 forward assists that also double as the bolt release. Interesting looking as well. I wouldn't ever buy it but I can appreciate what they did.

Yeah lol

I understand some of his complaints if we were talking about a $1000 rifle, but an entry level $550 gun I disagree with most of what he said. I can totally understand the market for a cheap, light weight, low featured AR.

The main one to me is sights. I think a "budget" gun should function with all the necessary parts rather than forcing someone to buy add-ons. Why bother putting that shitty buttstock on if it's not to make the rifle usable upon purchase?

Yeah that's true, a rear sight is needed. My thought was that I would rather pick a rear sight but now that I think about it, it's an extremely valid complaint.

Interesting handguards.

Some of Rock River's stuff looks really cool, others...

Adcor made a system like that a few years ago. Messed with one at a store. Definitely pretty interesting.

What's more tempting, this or a side-charging model? I'm not all that convinced there's anything wrong with the standard rear CH.

For like a .308 precision bench build, a left side charging could be pretty cool. As far as for most rifles I'd rather stick to the rear for now I think.

I could be tempted by a LH side-charger. I'd want it to be non-reciprocating.

LWRC REPR has that set up. I wish they sold and upper set up without a barrel.

I'm suddenly interested in a REPR.

I'm having a brain meltdown going through handguard options. Near as I can figure it's a tube on the Spike's and the ovals or Intacto for Mr. Bones. I need to design something custom though. Bones seems like the obvious choice for that. I'm drawing a blank though.

I can't imagine designing a good handguard for myself lol.

I wonder how a dna spiral would look on a handguard. Like the design wrapped around it.

I also wonder how a carbon rail would look with a white cerakoted fluted barrel.

I'm running out of ideas lol. I like the intacto lol

The DNA idea is awesome. Don't know what execution looks like. For custom I think I'll save that for a Cubo de Sangre-themed AR.

I was tinkering with the RRA trigger and put the REC7 upper on it. Not bad. :)

It should be said that you can't appreciate how awesome this lower is without seeing it in person. The cerakoting is killer.

Strangely the trigger is resetting today. Wtf?

I'm trying to imagine this on a handguard and wondering how it would be done. Maybe two strands going to make more of a solid cylinder. Do you do two strands and have them intertwine or just be opposite of each other. If executed well I think it could look pretty awesome. I think I can see it being done with two strands spinning opposite of each other(or would it be described as side by side?) without intertwining. Have the handguard start out like that with a round base but be open on the top without and end circle plate type deal(if you follow, I'm finding it difficult to describe lol)

It's gotta be a double helix. But can you fill in toward the barrel like with your example? Or could you only do the outer bars?

This photo helps me visualize.
