I don't agree. I have a group of mates, maybe 6-7 of them I suppose who are geeky wrestling fans (all in their 30s like me) and all are unhappy with the way WWE is nowadays but only one of them is into MMA. The rest have no interest whatsoever, its not the same thing at all - one is real fighting, the other is a scripted spectacle. A few of them tuned in for Lesnar fights but just the fight itself not the card as a whole, if it wasn't Brock they wouldn't have bothered.

I used to watch pro wrestling right around the time I believed in Santa Claus. For the life of me, I cannot understand how adults watch that garbage.

Me too.
If I ever meet up with those guys they're always watching WWE and my closest mate is always like "Bray Wyatt, you'll like him dude, he's right up your street"....

"Well, if I was 12 I would've loved him boys", coz I always enjoyed the 'weird' characters. But I'm 33 yrs old and cannot stomach watching this nonsense. I don't understand how any adults can enjoy it. To each their own I suppose.

I do enjoy goading them a bit though. If they ever complain about storylines and misuse of talented wrestlers, I remind them that this is a product aimed mainly at children and when they were children, they didn't give a fuck if Hogan could 'work' a match, they just wanted to see him rip his vest off and 'Hulk up'.

Why watch fake fighting when you can watch real fighting?

That's like saying why watch a movie when you can watch a documentary. Well ... lots of people like movies. And however silly it may seem to me or you, lots of people love their rasslin.

I come from Edmonton, AB. Stampede Wrestling came from Calgary, AB. They did a show in Calgary every Friday night, and Edmonton every Saturday night ( In Edm it was called Klondike Wrestling ). Now if you really know pro wrestling you know that the Hart Family owned that promotion. I used to watch the Hart family, Jim Neidhart, the British Bulldogs, Chris Benoit, and others yrs before they made it to the WWF. We were really spoiled. These guys all went on to win every belt in the WWF.

So, I was a huge fan even into my 20s. I knew it was not 100 % real from a very young age. By the time I hit about 13 I knew it was actually 100 % not real. But, I still enjoyed the story lines. Plus there was a great sense of pride that came from all those Stampede wrestlers getting over on the whole sport for many yrs in the WWF.

But, in my 20s new fighters were emerging. The shtick was just not funny or entertaining anymore. So, I just stopped watching. The first time I saw the UFC I was hooked. It was 100 % real. Almost everything they pretended to do in wrestling was actually legal in MMA. I haven't watched a wrestling match for a cpl decades. How do you justify watching the WWE, when there is the UFC ?

It really isn't aimed at children.
Children have no idea what a guy like Bray Wyatt or Paul Heyman talks about and Brock scares children.
WWE is a family based product, they cater to everyone.
Kids like Cena - Adults like Brock, etc.

You don't need to make a choice, some watch both.
They get a kick out of WWE and they love the legit nature of MMA

Wreslting is not dying, WWE network is killing fightpass and they still sell out and do more viewers per week than MMA. Not to mention the market is also strong enough that we have more wrestling promotions on TV we ever did. New Japan is booming, and more popular than JMMA. And the independents are doing better than ever.

the upcoming NXT Dallas card will be better than any UFC card this year. (Joe/Balor, Nakamura/Zayn, Aries/Corbin, Bailey/Asuka)

Attendance, i was talking about attendance

also don't exclude the wwe network subscribers from your count
yeah the fact that they still got as many PPV buys as an average UFC card when they have a 1.5 million paid subscribers watching on the network speaks volumes.

I don't disagree. When I said " you ", I actually meant me. I don't put wrestling fans down. I just don't watch it anymore. I didn't discover the UFC til about 10 yrs after I stopped watching WWE. So, I watched nothing for about 10 yrs.

If ppl are entertained by the WWE, who am I to say otherwise ?

EDIT... Especially since I was a rabid fanatic of wrestling while I was growing up. If I insulted wrestling fans that would make me look like a serious asshole.

possible but most guys who watch wwe also watch ufc

what ive noticed doh is a lot of wwe fans are quite passive about mma meanwhile most mma fans start spitting acid when you mention wwe then they wonder why they have such a meat headed reputation

Can't deny,UFC does attract a lot of WWE fans, they're a target audience no matter how much Dana wants to put pro wrestling down.
A lot of them will/have shifted since WWE isn't as good as before and there's a new and currently better form of entertainment in the UFC for them.
They won't watch Bellator and most likely lose interest if UFC go in a slump period like they did 2011-2014.

No, its all good.
I thought you meant "you" as in anyone.

I don't take WWE seriously, I take MMA seriously.
Both can be great when done right.
I think a lot of the fun with adults watching WWE is figuring out where the stories are going and how they are presented.

Oh, he does that a lot?

I think that the place has mellowed and there is a whole section now of course outside the thread. The divas thread is fantastic!:)
