Kevin Nash says that the UFC is hurting the pro wrestling business. What are your thoughts on this?
Exactly, just recycling guys from 20 years ago. Can't grow a business like that.
This. There is some overlap of wrestling and MMA fans. But few MMA fans become wrestling fans because of MMA; likewise few professional wrestling fans become MMA fans because of professional wrestling. I'm pretty sure pro wrestling is struggling presently because of a multitude of issues: $9.99 every month for each ppv, the social stigma of being a WWE fan, and the increasingly lame story lines (though I'm not really sure if the story lines have really diminished since the "Attitude Era" because I was quite young back then.)
I agree... I mean...the UFC stole me from the WWE![]()
It's not like the UFC HW champion is 38 years old and people keep wanting to bring Fedor, Igor and even Shamrock to the UFC.Exactly, just recycling guys from 20 years ago. Can't grow a business like that.
LOL @ "the social stigma of being a WWE fan".
Peer presh FTW, amirite?
Another thing that people forget is that UFC is also directly taking talent from them via college wrestlers who now have a new sport option, to choose. Before mma It was either go to the olympics if your good enough or try to make it in wwe. Now many college wrestlers that want a post career are trying mma instead of going to the wwe.No doubt UFC has hurt prowrestling. This is common knowledge to everyone that has their finger on the pulse with both industries. Jim Cornette is another huge person in prowrestling that has come out saying UFC is killing their prowrestling business. Of course it is. Why would you want to watch fake fights over real fights? That's exactly why WWE these days are catering to children. Because the second you turn 13 or 14. You're done with WWE these days. You switch over to other sports and UFC/MMA. Yes in a real fight it may not be action 24/7. That's where to young children it's not appealing. But once they get older and more mature. They get the patience and can appreciate what MMA is
Haven't watched pro wrestling since 2003. Was huge into it in the late 90's early 2000's. Best era for wrestling. The stuff they offer now is crap in comparison.Neither do I, its mostly crap. My point was that scripted stuff can be more entertaining than reality. Not that I've watched WWE in years but it offers the viewer something UFC generally doesn't, storylines, more entertaining characters, promos etc.
Just for the sake of argument. Acting in movies/tv is much better and can actually make you believe what you're watching is actually happening. Acting is wrestling isn't believable and the physical aspects are ruined because of mma. These are my personal feelings.I know, for real. Who would want to watch simulated fighting?
Yup if theres one thing Bret Hart and HBK are known for its their ability to agree on stuffWars don't have scripts that both sides agree to.
Doesn't apply. That is the 2nd time someone has mentioned documentaries, again not trying to be a dick but is that the WWF fan defense. When I go to watch a movie, I watch a movie. When I go to watch a fight, I don't watch 2 oiled up dudes with masks doing flips and pretending to beat each other up. I watch a fight. You must only watch documentary movies then...
What about Nacho Libre?Doesn't apply. That is the 2nd time someone has mentioned documentaries, again not trying to be a dick but is that the WWF fan defense. I live in Orlando and catch at least 1 football, basketball and baseball game at UCF every year. I get them messed up all the time as well. Nash lives in Central Florida, its easy to do.Seeing he doesn't even know if it's the UFC or UCF... I don't trust his opinion.
