Kevin Holland vs Kyle Daukaus? Holland feeling lockish

first of all i got your post lol..not harsh at all. Secondly thanks man seriously. These types of conversations are the exact type i need to get these types of predictions correct. I hear everything your saying and after coming back hours later its easier to see how that post was all over the place lmfao. In the end you are correct lock is the wrong word. A good bet is a better term.

Without talking forever ill try to get it out more clearly lol. It seems like in 2019 when he fought allen he wasnt really aware that he had TDD issues. I think he just got complacent fighting someone elses game and it cost him dearly in this fight. I think that the 3 wrestling fuckings that came after were a little different. I think he literally wasnt able to get up. So what i was trying to say before i fucked it all up is I think hes going to try very hard to stop the take down this fight and keep it standing (which he didnt do vs allen). I also think that hes strong and athletic enough to keep kyle from doing him like the other 3. So yes i was all over the place lmfao. Im glad to hear that you do at least like holland as the mf ticket is already placed lol!! You are correct in everything you said bro. Im over here moving the FG post lol..sorry sherbro

All good man, I totally agree with everything you're saying here!

Have you watched kyle fight? its all relative lol

This is the fucking truth lmao. I'm a low-key fan of the Daukaus brothers, but Kyle occasionally has that "blind man feeling around for the light switch in a dark room" striking style. Not quite Askrenesque, but he not a big threat on the feet by any means. The best moment I've ever seen from him in the standup in the UFC was badly rocking Phil Hawes with a wild punch (IIRC) in a fight he ended up losing decisively.

Conversely, Holland is a pretty good striker IMO. I wouldn't rate him at "he would school Izzy on the feet" levels as some occasionally do, but I don't think it's crazy to put him in the Top 5 pure strikers at 185. I'd like to see him fight the likes of Hall, Strickland, or Till one day.

Holland fell off pretty quickly. I had no idea he was fighting, he was the next big thing after the Jacare fight.

I LIKE Cirkunov ...I really do. Cheered him on all his UFC fights.
But...I just don't have that much faith anymore in him. IF he wins, I agree it'll probably be via sub.
Jotko is no joke though, and that's why he is the current favorite.

If pushed I'd probably bet on Jotko by decision. That's the way i see it going. But...Cirkunov has excellent subs.....Sometimes....
Cirkunov looks like a 90’s comic book hero. He looked like a million bucks in his fights until he hit a certain level of opposition too. It’s a shame he didn’t pan out. He’s kind of like a good version of Todd Duffee.

Both guys are good, so no lock.

I agree, i think hes one of the best striking grapplers..not best striking strikers. Its his well roundedness and smooth boxing that makes him flow. hes for sure not an elite striker like rob or izzy tho.

That's fair. While his grappling is better than many people give him credit for in the wake of his performances against Brunson and Vettori (understandably so), I still feel like it's very much a secondary/back pocket skillset for him. I personally see him as a primary striker, though I'd readily acknowledge that he's more well-rounded than others that this label would be applied to.

Yeah I dunno how I feel about Cirkunov's decision to cut all that extra weight a few months after a devastating KO in a career full of such losses. He wasn't a tiny LHW. But here's hoping he manages it fine and is able to use his size as a force multiplier while actually fighting intelligently. Dude's fight IQ has always been inconsistent; there were a lot of times where he didn't go to his wheelhouse (grappling) as often or as soon as he should have. I sort of expect Jotko to be too much for him, though.

I actually wanted to see him fight Paul Craig. He was one of the few 205ers with the grappling accolades and resume that looked like he might be able to hang with him at a glance. Also an interesting bit of MMAth in that Craig got tapped by Crute who got tapped by Cirkunov. But I digress...

Holland legit can distract his opponent by his talking

I think he got that KO against Jacare by that big mouth + power from the bottom out of nowhere

p/s
Giving the new meaning to the term "power bottom"

He hasn't developed TDD and distance / range control despite his reach

Not exactly a crispy striker based on many of his last fights

Daukaus is decent, scrappy as hell and better than his UFC record suggests.....that said, this is an attempted gimme fight for Holland to get back on track. Daukaus will get hurt standing and lacks the wrestling horsepower to consistently keep Holland on the mat.
