I don't follow. You asked for examples of Kevin being outgrappled solely by technique and not power (presumably so as to try stave off the inevitable and legitimate examples of Stewart, Brunson, and Vettori wrestlefucking him?). I provide an example of it Allen doing so and you say it doesn't fit your criteria. I find your reasoning this questionable at best, because having a dominant position over your opponent, getting reversed, and then submitted is the very epitome of getting schooled by the superior technical grappler in my book. What's next? Are you going to tell me that Rockhold reversing Chris and Boestch before murdering both men on the ground wasn't an example of them getting outgrappled?
You also say that the Allen example shouldn't count against Holland because it's not him getting outgrappled or bullied... so we are including bullying, i.e. overpowering now? Because you specified technique only with Holland, yet you seemed happy to talk about all the times Daukaus gets overpowered tossed around in the cage. Difference being that when Kevin got outwrestled, he tended to stay on his back and lose rounds. Daukaus often submitted the dudes doing the tossing. Vastly different tiers of competition, yes, but I think you get my point.
Nasrat is a non-sequitur. I picked against him and with confidence at that. Honestly I thought Hooker might even TKO him. I also never said Lombardo was a UFC-caliber or elite guy. It is entirely possible for wins to be legitimate without opponents being of that caliber, especially for modern prospects. Again, I think you're getting too hung up on the ragdolling thing considering the end result.
Sometimes, yes. Other times he practices decent fundamentals. That's an oversimplification of the Daukaus fight in any case. If anything, his output and conditioning wilted slightly and Kyle was thus able to pressure him more effectively, exploiting his superior cardio and leveraging his own grappling skillset. I've seen peoole score Rd 3 a 10-8 for Daukaus to make it a Draw, though I don't agree with it.
At this point I think we're debating past one another -- and unnecessarily at that. We both favor Holland in this fight. I don't think it's productive to argue about how much of a loser we expect the other guy to be
My sole remark was that I wouldn't be overly shocked if the fight ended up on the ground: maybe Holland has another moment of poor fight IQ and shoots on Kyle or follows him to the ground after rocking him, maybe Daukaus drags him down with a well-timed TD if/when he gets overzealous with the striking, etc. We've seen Kyle take people down and submit them. We've seen Holland get taken down many times. The wrestling clinics he's been going through in the meantime absolutely should help prevent this, but until I see it in action I'm not going to dismiss the entire possibility out of hand. All that being said, yes, it's clear why Holland is a healthy favorite but there have been worse dogs than Daukaus IMO.
