Keosawa's Powerlifting Log

Nice PR. First time seeing a lift that was on the way down but then moved back up again. I thought you were going to fail at first. Good job in fighting for it.

Keo, do you feel like sumo deads have helped your squat? Someone suggested I started doing sumo deads as an assistance for the squat.

Absolutely; I think they help in two ways. First, my lower back is usually less fatigued from week to week by doing my speed pulling sumo-style, which helps my squat; that's because when I squat, I tend to utilize my lower back a good deal. Second, I squat with a narrow stance, and my glutes and hips are weak points. Pulling sumo really helps me to hone in on those weaknesses.

Solid gut-out on the sumo PR buddy. Good stuff.

I'm almost motivated enough to drag myself out of my alcoholic haze and seriously train again.

Thanks hatch. Maybe I forgot which way the weight was supposed to move for a split-second.

Its about time for a new bottle of Nose Tork, methinks.

Maybe it will. It's jumped 45 lbs. since the beginning of January. My technique on max attempts leaves a lot to be desired, but doing lighter sets with good technique has helped my strength, I think.

Booyaa!!! Congrats Keo, great job pushing through.

The dedication... just gutting it out.... amazing. Those guys in the background doing 10kg EZ-bar curls are an inspiration to us all. :)

Seriously, though, that was great. The level of effort and how you looked after was a little scary. And that just made it even more great.

I lent it to another lifter for a heavy attempt last week, and he and his buddies were going nuts with it because they thought it was funny. I haven't replaced it yet, but I agree--it's time for a new one.

Nice deadlift, and nicer (not a word) seizure!

Thanks man. I wish I didn't shake so badly while deadlifting; sooner or later, it's going to get me red-lighted at a meet, since it looks sometimes like I'm hitching the weight.

LOL. I don't want to be mean, but I honestly feel bad that a seriously overweight kid is doing long curl sets for God knows what reason. There is so much ridiculous stuff going on in this video, it's not funny. Between the curls, the discussion in the back of doing "21s" (moar curls) with "just the bar," the smith machine squats with the pad, the one-armed preacher curls off the bench, and the weird forearm exercise that starts at 1:15 on the far right and at some point turns into a wrist curl, this is a pretty accurate depiction of what goes on in my gym most of the time. I feel bad for people who are seriously out of shape, because they don't have a clue.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of that stuff. It made me realize, when you said in that other thread "I always get trolled because I see stuff in my gym far worse than anything people suggest in these threads", just how much you weren't kidding.

Nice effort, even better zombie walk afterwards.

Yeah, I was achy from squats on Tuesday; plus, I'm usually a bit stiff coming up from sumos anyway, as my flexibility isn't exactly fantastic. I had some pretty wicked face-bloat/vein action going on at lockout, and I popped the capillaries in my face on this one. I will admit that I was a little out of it afterwards.

The trolls on sherdog would be among the most learned and informed gym patrons at my university. Seriously.
