Yeah. This is basically something I learned from Louie Simmons; he does one wide and one close burnout set after his DE bench pressing and wanted me to do the same. We lightened the resistance on this day (last time we had like 80-100 lbs. of chains), so it felt lighter than in weeks past. I don't know what the doubled minis came out to on these, but on some reps it looked like there was almost no tension at the bottom. My partner and I like to compete on these and see who can get more reps; so far, I'm undefeated. I think it's just because I'm faster than he is (relatively speaking) on the bench press, so I don't slow down and grind out as many reps during these long sets.

On bench press, my rep numbers have always been much better than my max. When my bench press max was 300, my best set with 225 was 15; for whatever reason, I've always had trouble handling heavier weights on the bench press.

Are they similar to the new style rehband sleeves? I just picked up a pair of those and I do not like them

Holy shit, I passed over the fact that you're 5'4 148-160 lbs.
My respect for your lifts has increased greatly.

Manlet pride, my friend. I'm only 5'6, stuck here forever.

I have no idea, honestly; these are the only pair I've ever had, so I wouldn't be able to compare them.

lol; at least you've got two inches on me. No worries--it's not like I advertised my height and weight to you. This forum has a few shorter lifters, and we have to stick together, I guess.

i thought it was a typo at first. Awesome speed on your reps.

Thanks man. I need to speed up the eccentrics on my speed reps--particularly on the first rep--but my speed on this day felt solid.

Your offspring might not follow in dwelling at lower altitudes forever though. My dad is 5'3" 145lbs and was a stud gymnast. His son (me) 6'2" 260. Dad always said the mail man was tall...

Mom is 5'7". I am at least a couple inches taller than everyone in my close or extended family (cousins, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.)

You all have short parents. My mom at 5'11 is taller than most of your fathers.

My parents are 5'1" and 5'6" .... most old people are short lol.

For the record, my dad's 5'8" and my mom's 5'3". I'm the shortest of my two other brothers by a few inches.

Jake, I texted Phil today, so I haven't heard back yet.

Okay, so I have several comments from today. I'll start with the PRs: I came in planning on trying for a deadlift PR, and I hit 500 with a clean lift. I was very happy about that, considering my lower back's a little achy right now and I felt not so fast warming up. I then tried 520 and got the lift, but it was an extremely ugly pull and one that wouldn't count in a competition. The bar actually started coming back down (below knee height) before I got it moving again (somehow), I was shaking so bad that it looks like I hitched it (though I wasn't), and the lift took me eight seconds to complete. But hey, I took it from the ground to lockout without any cheating, so I'm going to count it. That's a +35 lb. PR on sumo for the day and the third sumo PR I've hit in the last four days.

I've got video of it, and I'll post it when I get home later.

Oh, and I had a tete-a-tete with the girl I ran into earlier this week. She explained her side and I said all would be forgiven if she'd give it a second chance. She has some serious past relationship issues, but I really like her, so I'm going to see if I can't deal with them. Emotionally I am strong enough to handle taking on someone else's problems in addition to my own.

You still thinking your sumo will never eclipse your conventional? That's same damn good numbers for not doing it that much, figured with your speed off the floor and trouble at lockout that you would be great at sumo, congrats on the pr

Maybe it will. It's jumped 45 lbs. since the beginning of January. My technique on max attempts leaves a lot to be desired, but doing lighter sets with good technique has helped my strength, I think.
