I agree with what it seems he's trying to say. There were no MMA gyms and you'd be hard pressed to even find someone to teach you BJJ outside of Brazil. There were no major promotions to hope to contract with and there was no road to real money. You just fought.

He wasn't talking about street fighting, he was comparing fighting in a park as training to an MMA camp nowadays with nutritionists, a team of coaches, tape on your opponent, a gym.

It was like an old school punk rock tour. Sleeping in a crappy van with crappy gear for crappy pay just trying to find the next venue that will even allow you in. And that's as good as it gets.

Well it's pretty laughable to consider Jorge or Nate a BMF now.

One's a diva who turned down a title shot because he wants to get paid more despite already getting a huge pay bump this last year and already making more than 90% of the roster.

The other one only talks shit to other fighters in his division but would never agree to fight them cause he knows damn well they would f*** him up.

We don't know anything about that. We have no idea if he'd fight in a sport that virtually doesn't exist, with close to no fans, for barely any money (if any money, as prize money was often all you got--no show).
