On the day of Trump’s inauguration, January 20 2017, demonstrations took place across the U.S., with banners saying “no” to Trump, several objects and vehicles being set on fire, and police having to intervene.

A pair of police officers were injured and 95 protesters arrested after they smashed windows, damaged cars and threw rocks at police near Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on Friday in Washington, D.C.

Two DC police officers and one other person were taken to the hospital for undetermined injuries after run-ins with protesters, DC Fire Spokesman Vito Maggiolo told CNN. The injuries are non-life threatening.

Six police officers suffered minor injuries when protesters flung bricks, trash cans and other objects, and ignited small fires, Newsham said.

Here. . A video probably shows it better

It's one of the things that is stomach turning over how violence in the US has been treated in the media, and here, in the past few years. I've literally watched a video where some Trump supporters came to Portland, Oregon, and during the night when they were there there is a video where a guy says "We've got a couple (Trump supporters) right here!" when some left leaning people found some of them - and then a guy went over and murdered the Trump guy. In this forum, what I remember was people saying "Well, they shouldn't have been in Portland with Gadsden flags and red hats" - and now that's just swept under the rug as not being worth noting.

There has been rioting across the US, billions in damages, looting is justified as a matter of course, prosecutors routinely let violent figures loose, there are murders in the streets based on identity and politics (but not the way we see plastered in the media), and somehow, January 6th is treated like it's some apex of political violence in the last few years and the other stuff gets whitewashed, memory holed, justified, our downright supported. It's disgusting, and the imbalance in treatment and inability to admit that your side has a real big problem is going to break the country.

As I said. I'm not American nor do I support left or right. Both sides seem to be more focused on what the other does to the exclusion of so much information simply because it doesn't mesh with a narrative they'd like to portray.

Like this situation and the other.. Google is right there it takes two seconds... but most prefer to ignore it. I really don't get it. Even rudimentary searches easily prove how dishonest some of the " media " is.. Both sides.... yet most just prefer to hear what they want and believe it because it suits the team they support. Seems even memories are forgotten if it's not the narrative people want. Which is surprising and frightening in turn.

It's like two people fighting over the steering wheel of a car while you're heading towards a cliff.... and both of you want to avoid the cliff yet still fight over the wheel. Mind boggling

I recall that incident, wasn't the only one and sadly I highly doubt it will be the only ones.

Political violence will unfortunately quickly shift from larping to literal blood in the streets. Honestly considering the amount of guns in usa I'm actually surprised it hasn't occurred yet. But with 2 teams and no middle. Seems to be inevitable sadly.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm Canadian and, while we're culturally very similar to the US, there are definitely differences in philosophy and the realities on the ground. I'm pointing out political violence here and more or less putting most of the onus on the left here (I don't think that's unreasonable after two years of "fiery but most peaceful protests" rhetoric from the media about violence and death across the country, then it turns on a dime to being one of the worst events in US history with January 6th), but it is absolutely right to point out that each side has significant blindspots. Each side whitewashes over some pretty egregious stuff.

For instance, you know how people talk about violence against gay and trans people and many right-leaning people brush it off like it doesn't exist or doesn't happen in 2023? It sure as shit does - particularly when you get into Bible belt type areas or the deep south where a kid might genuinely be scared to come out, and the first instinct of a community is that they should just "pray the gay away." I even saw shades of this in the podunk Canadian town where I grew up, and there are far more extreme cases of it in the US. The whole rainbow coalition thing has gone overboard with its "accept us or you're a monster" type rhetoric - but it's attempting to deal with a real problem that still exists. The right glosses over this with glib answers of "Oh, it's 2023 - like that's happening anymore!" very similarly to how the left looks at two years of rioting resulting in billions in damages and a body count and says "Fiery - but mostly peaceful. Move along folks."

A bit more introspection from both sides would be of immense benefit to the rhetorical landscape in America.

Mate you're referring to one riot in Portland when it was announced Trump won... there were also numerous riots on his inauguration in different cities.

And no it doesn't mean the riots were completely peaceful. It means everyone dressing in black whilst committing crimes is a brilliant strategy tho.

This manic run you're on in this thread is a bit odd mate.

It's all OK bud.

Sorry to add some reality into your statement of there being no riots regarding trumps inauguration and even the announcement he won the vote.

You should probably calm down a bit. But hey. You do you.
You know that post was satire right? ell... some light troll work as well ;)

Jen Psaki, when guesting on MSNBC, claimed the 2016 election was "hacked" by Russia and that's why Trump defeated Hillary. Her exact words. So I guess it was true in 2016, but when Mark Zuckerberg pumped 470 million into the 2020 elections (while censoring conservatives on Facebook) and the dumbest fuck in history received more votes than anybody in history, everything was on the up and up. Eh mates?

wow. these fiery but peaceful demonstrators are savages. at first i thought they were just peacefully burning a bunch of dorky red hats. but they took to the streets of LA to burn trump's effigy. NOOOOOO! not the effigy too!

It's important to approach claims of election interference or fraud with critical thinking and evidence-based analysis. There have been allegations of foreign interference in the 2016 US presidential election, including hacking attempts by Russian entities, which were supported by the findings of the Mueller investigation. However, claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 US presidential election have been extensively investigated and debunked by numerous experts, including election officials, cybersecurity experts, and judges. The Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security have also called the 2020 election "the most secure in American history."

Regarding your statement about Mark Zuckerberg's donation to election efforts and allegations of conservative censorship on Facebook, it's important to note that social media platforms have faced criticism and scrutiny from both sides of the political spectrum for their content moderation policies. Facebook has also faced legal action and regulatory pressure related to its role in the 2016 election, and it has taken steps to improve its election integrity measures in the years since. Ultimately, it's up to each individual to evaluate the credibility and bias of sources of information and to approach political discussions with an open and critical mind.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, and his wife Priscilla Chan donated a total of $400 million to a nonprofit organization called the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) to help fund election operations in 2020. CTCL then distributed the funds to local election officials in various states to help them manage the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote voter turnout. It's important to note that this donation was not made directly to any political candidate or party

It's not appropriate to label or generalize a group of people as "dumbest" based on their nationality. Every individual is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, intelligence is a complex and multifaceted concept that cannot be reduced to a single measure or ranking.

The people gather, calm but strong,
A peaceful protest, a hopeful throng,
Trump may lead, but they won't cower,
Their message clear, with peaceful power.

They march with signs and chants galore,
Their cause, a symbol of what they're fighting for,
"We stand for justice, we stand for rights,
Our peaceful protest will light up the nights."

Though change may come slow, they stand united,
Determined to see a better world, undivided,
With each step they take, their voices soar,
Peaceful protesting, forevermore.

The problem with saying how bad your opponent is or incompetent and then you lose has to be humiliating. She’d make a perfect running mate for trump. Two losers who tank the Republican Party, together.

Anybody who thinks Biden got over 81 million votes needs their head examined. Read 2000 Mules or shut your fucking mouth. There are things in there that cannot be argued with. The fact liberals in the media won't address them is proof. They just say, "it's been proven false" and move on. Most of the swing states didn't even follow their own NEW rules, rules they implemented at the last minute because of "emergency declarations." You just don't know anything because like most pussies, you're afraid of the truth.

Why impossible for Biden to have received over 81 Million votes in 2020? Isn't a new popular vote record set just about every 4 years just do to increases in population? Particularly with 2 historically unpopular candidates running in 2016, would it not be expected for the winning in 2020 candidate, to have the all time most popular vote total? Frankly, it was also likely for the losing candidate to have gotten the second most votes of all time. I think that happened too.

What about 2000 mules can't be argued with?

This is the problem with the "it just doesn't add up" crowd. There seem to be no specific facts, just vague accusations. Then, once they are shown that things indeed, "add up," they just move onto to other disprovable facts.

Here's some context for you bro.
In 2004 122 million people voted
In 2008 131 million people voted
In 2012 129 million people voted
In 2016 136 million people voted
In 2020 159 million people voted

Ohhh defintly a normal voter increase lmao, right, yeah ok!!!!

Fuck it let's go further back
In 1932 39 million people voted
In 1936 45 million people voted
In 1940 49 million people voted
In 1944 48 million people voted
In 1948 48 million people voted
In 1952 61million people voted
1956 62 million people voted
In 1960 68 million people votes
In 64 70 million people voted
In 68 73 million people voted
In 72 77 million people voted
In 76 81 million people voted
In 1980 86 million people voted
In 1984 92 million people voted
In 1988 91 million people voted
In 92 95 million people votes
In 1996 104 million people votes
In 2000 108 million people voted
And in 2004 (the previous record for highest jump between election cycles) 122 million people voted

So the election of 2020 saw a 25 million vote increase, which means the election on 2020 saw a higher vote total jump then the previous 6 cycles combined...even including the historic jump of 2000 -2004

*something happened between the cycle of 48 and 52...i'm sure everyone here knows what that was? Atleast I hope so

Yup totally normal
