What's next for him?

Colby beats him in a rematch. I know Usman is 2-0 against him but I think that head kick KO is going to permanently change Usman.

Wait for July
If Kobe Colvington take the belt, fight him
If Leon keeps the belt, call out Chimaev who will win the wrestling exchanges in the two first rounds and then he will gas out and Usman will win the last 3 rounds

Looks to me he's going to take significant time away from the sport. Probably to reinvigorate, revaluate his career.

But what's next for him, do you think he'd fight someone like Belal?

No. Marty is tardy.

Before the first edwards fight he said he was only going to fight 2 more times then retire. Him and others who know him were talking about all the many injuries and surgeries that led him to saying that.

well.. the two fights happened, and he has been twice flattened.
when a man decides on a number, he has set alarm his slumber.

But hey if he wants to stick around and lose to some rising hungry prospect, I'm fine by that. More hype for the new generation. I'm no white knight and it would be his own choice as an adult making money doing what he loves.

However, he is NOT what we call prime years anymore.

Fight Belal and pray that Colby beats Leon. Or try your luck at MW. Cannonier or Duplessis seem like winnable matchups and the champion there has a severe hole in his grappling which maybe Usman could exploit.

Never been a fan of fighters coming off of a loss fighting ones on winning streaks.

Winnable 3 round fights at MW assuming that his purse is adequate might be the right move to make so that he can bank enough to move on from fighting, though.
A Du Plessis fight would make for a great storyline.

He can do the rematch with burns

Good fight; but does anyone (besides us MMA fans) really want to see it?

Not a bad idea; but his lack of personality might hamper him.

Just looked up the name; and the fact that Colby means heel/leg grabber is funny AsF to me.

First fight with Edwards (in ~seven years) he lost via KO.
The second he lost a majority decision.
This begs the question:
How do you define "flattened?"

Usman should try to get the Khamzat fight.
5 round co-main on a stacked PPV. Get that last payday, WW or MW shouldn't matter as they're probably close to the same size.

Either that or try to leave on a safe win and take Wonderboy, Neal, Magny type of fights?

Take a book outta Robbie's chapter Joe.

When Robbie lost 3-2 to Hendricks(March) he immediately bounced back and beat Ellenberger(May) & Brown(July) in quick succession to unequivocally establish himself as the #1 contender, & of course got his belt back.

It's time for war.

He looked off against Edwards, I suspect he was injured. He should rehab any lingering injuries and comeback later this year. He’s 35 years old, I think he has a couple good fights left in him before calling it a career.

Well, if Colby beats Leon, Usman will have a case for a ts since he beat Colby twice already.

Wrong, the second he lost via KO. And looked pretty flattened.
The third was via MD.

i should edit my post to say “first title fight” good looking out

I think Usman should retire.

I'd guess that he'll take some time between now and his next opponent, although "long period of time" seems a bit ridiculous. Probably 6-8 months before he steps back in.
