I can't find a picture of Beryl Finegan to see what she looked like, but I'll assume she was white.

We're talking about her ethnic makeup, so yeah her parents, grandparents, etc... are an important part of that equation. I certainly wasn't implying that Kamala had anything to do with slavery, it would explain however how her Jamaican father had Irish in his lineage.
