Social Justin Trudeau announces resignation

For what it’s worth Singh just came out again and said it doesn’t matter who replaces Trudeau. The government will fall on March 24 when they make the speech from the throne.

Freeland and Carny are both doing soft polling among the mp's. Freeland has the national polling advantage among the Liberals. Neither can win ...but this may be her only hope. Even if it's nill.

MP's are unlikely to back Carny as he isn't one...meaning a liberal safe district (if one those even exist at this point) would need their MP to step down and a by-election to be called. If they did that then there's no reason not to do a national one.

Liberals are fucked ...bloc as of right now have 70% of being thr official opposition. Liberals are significantly closer to losing official party status than they are to winning a minority

Ehh it's a start but there's still a ton of liberals in power who supported this clown over 9 years. The work isn't done yet , don't let this be the only win my fellow canadians

that was the most pathetic resignation speech I've ever seen, he was fighting back tears the entire time. Great leadership there, how did someone so weak stay in power for so long ?
 
Always fun to Watch The Liberals implode. Now we all get to watch them sprial in a rushed leadership race. Rember, in their charter, they require at least 90 days for a party race, they will have 74. Also, remember they are the only party that only requirement to vote in their leadership race is to be over the age of 14. Don't have to be a citizen, don't have to be registered with the party. So we are definitely going to see some comical foreign interference. They are in such a tail spin that I wouldn't be surprised at all if they don't meet the 12 vote threshold for official party status. I mean it seemed unfathomable that one of the big 2 caandian parties could fall that hard...but Trudy could be the guy that did it.

OTTAWA, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is increasingly likely to announce he intends to step down, though he has not made a final decision, a source familiar with Trudeau's thinking said on Sunday.

The source spoke to Reuters after the Globe and Mail reported that Trudeau was expected to announce as early as Monday that he would quit as leader of Canada's ruling Liberal Party after nine years in office. The source requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Trudeau's departure would leave the party without a permanent head at a time when polls show the Liberals will badly lose to the official opposition Conservatives in an election that must be held by late October.
Sources told the Globe and Mail that they did not know definitely when Trudeau would announce his plans to leave but said they expect it would happen before an emergency meeting of Liberal legislators on Wednesday. An increasing number of Liberal parliamentarians, alarmed by a series of gloomy polls, have publicly urged Trudeau to quit.

The prime minister's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours. The prime minister's regularly published schedule for Monday said he would participate virtually in a cabinet committee meeting on Canada-U.S. relations. It remains unclear whether Trudeau will leave immediately or stay on as prime minister until a new Liberal leader is selected, the Globe and Mail report added.

Yeah it was pretty bad. The fact that he tried to claim “internal party politics” as being the reason why he couldn’t lead effectively anymore was particularly disgusting. The man is incapable of taking responsibility for anything.
