So beating Fiziev, who took the fight on short notice, gets you a title shot? Come on, don’t tell me that’s not privileged treatment. Gaethje’s brain is already melted at this point the guy is one of the most hittable fighters in the world. He’s been tagged in every single fight, even almost knocked out by Tony Ferguson in the first round, only saved by the bell. And now you wanna put him against one of the fastest and most powerful punchers out there?

It really is. Gaetje might be the only exciting to watch fighter I want to see get Merab’d (Merobbed) lol
Just cause his attitude kinda sucks and he literally avoids and ignores half of the sport (Which is one of my criticisms against these grapplers too) His approach just can’t lead to a title not in today’s MMA world.
I know the Max fight was a favor to the UFC but Gaetje has shown a good chin at lightweight until getting KO’d by Featherweight Max who had never hit like that before in any of his prior fights, and he had Gaetje siezuring and whatnot. Max was just way too slick for him..Volk probably beats the shit out of him too even at Lightweight

Once you rule out Arman, none of the choices are good, and with Max injured there isn't even a reasonable argument that any of the choices is meaningfully better than Gaethje.

At this point, I'm just happy it's not going to be Paddy, who's 1-1 fighting against non-jobber non-corpses in the UFC, losing four out of four full rounds.

Hooker is easily a better choice than Gaethje. Anyone talking about Gaethje being a gamer seems to ignore the dog Hooker has and the fight he himself always brings. Hooker last beat Gamrot, which itself is already a better win than Fiziev, then has an added 2 other fighters including a ranked opponent, which means he actually has more than just a pair of wins going for him (something Justin might be able to remember he had over 5 years ago). Justin might be higher in the ranks but way lower in momentum, and he's already cashed in on that high rank, low momentum already, so Hooker also has the benefit of not losing 2 LW title shots already
