Mendes has the threat of takedowns and has so far been one of the few people to takedown and make Aldo work during the sprawl. If you also looked closely, before you listen to goddamn Joe Rogan's analysis, Aldo was slipping most of the punches just like his other fights. Aldo still had Chad on the backpedal most of the fight.

You guys are so fucking awful at analyzing anything that even 4chan has better discussions when it comes to MMA.

Aldo won't have to be worried about the takedowns against McGregor so his stance will be more catered to striking. He won't have to think twice about kicking or using his knees.

Look at the fight again and watch when Aldo throws a leg kick. Mendes immediately takes him down and he had to sprawl like crazy. That stopped him from kicking for a while.

It's a fucking disrespect to Mendes if anything that you asshats are implying he's a bum and hasn't shown improvement. Duane has done good things for their camp. Remember, only Aldo so far has been the only one to beat Mendes.

Mendes and Frankie would rape McGregor. Hell, even Lamas would give him difficulties and probably sub him.

Ohhhh and the "threat of a TD by Mendes" Argument can be canceled out by McGregor being the more superior striker. So IMO it's a level playing field again.

Btw didn't McGregor take down Holloway?

Much better wrestlers than Connor have been unable to take Aldo down, so I HIGHLY doubt that Aldo has much to worry about in the regard. But in the HIGHLY unlike scenario that Connor shoots and lands a take down, I would definitely give Aldo the advantage on the ground as well. Connor would do best to keep to his strengths, or pay for it severely.
 
I am not so confident on Aldo like some people who talks like it is a sure thing. Conor has the skills to hit Aldo cleanly at times.

Hoping for Aldo to win though!

Aldo is a better kicker than Connor. And has a great chin. Some of the shots he took from Mendes would put most FW's out. And Aldo's stand up will be enhanced by his grappling threat. I think this is the fight that will really blow up Aldo's stardom and I think he knows it too.
 
Yea Mendes striking is pretty basic and he was doing good. I'm not sure why people think McGregor can't give Aldo serious problems on the feet dude's striking is crazy. McGregor is a monster at FW he's not some little 5'5 dude

Chad has improved but McGregor is a whole different animal when it comes to the striking game
 
You're acting as if the dude who stood with Aldo unafraid for 5 rounds and knocked him down is the same timid, one-dimensional wrestler who legitimately wasn't a good striker.

Unfortunately, we are talking about Super Mendes, and the fact that he dropped Aldo with a counter left hook says far more about Super Mendes than it does Jose Aldo. He is the JDS of the FW division, the guy who would surely be champ if not for one man. World-class. Elite.

Also a lot of what Mendes had success with such as a fake level change to uppercut would never work for Conor as he does not have the threat of offensive wrestling in his arsenal.

So Mendes certainly isn't as good in pure striking as McGregor, but he's a straight beast now, and is also significantly better at mma than Conor.
