Metal/Rock/Industrial Just discovered Iron Maiden

They had a solid comeback album around 2000 or so that went largely under the radar. The Wicker Man, Blood Brothers, Brave New World were all decent songs from it.

1986 Somewhere in Time tour.

I WAS THERE, MAN!

I have seen their art and stuff over the years and thought it was a clothing brand or something.

Came across them on Apple music and I was absolutely blown away. Really liking the Virtual XI, The X Factor, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son albums.

Any Iron Maiden fans on Sherdog? What are your favorite albums.?
Fear of the Dark is my favorite, but that is an unorthodox choice. It's not the most well-liked album, but it is a nostalgiac album for me.

Both of their first two albums (self-titled "Iron Maiden" and "Killers") are both worth getting. Those albums kind of laid the foundation with their original lead singer.

"Live After Death" is a good best of album of their early stuff. It's definitely worth getting. Getting the "Essential Iron Maiden" album is also a good choice before branching off into other stuff.

"Dance of Death" has a few of their better tracks from the later years.

Yes sir. Still my favorite song of all time.
I know Cradle of Filth are an abomination but I liked their first 4 or 5 albums in the 90's early 00's. Their cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name was my first introduction to Iron Maiden. Before then I thought they were cheesy 80's metal but have since come around.

What do you think of COF's cover?

@Thrawn33 also.

They're my white whale. I've seen everyone on my list, even bands that had broken up, but still haven't had the chance to see Maiden. I'm not sure it'll ever happen.
They're on a Canada/US tour all summer. If you can catch them, do it. Such a crazy live show. The energy they give off is unreal, especially for older fellas. Bruce runs around the stage nonstop like a kid.
I'm going to see them in Montréal in about 2 weeks. Naturally, I'm stoked. Might even go catch them again in Vancouver in September.

I'm not a Cradle of Filth fan, at all, and Maiden is almost impossible to cover because you either ruin what made it good by changing too much or you don't change anything and never live up to the original.

That said I fucking love that version and it's my favorite cover of the band. It's an evil spiteful take that really changes the tone without sounding inherently inferior. That's not to say it's better, it's just great as an alternative.

The one other cover I really like of Iron Maiden is Black Tide doing Prowler.

I prefer Machinehead's cover.

My favorites vary at any given time, but musically Hallowed... and Heaven and Hell (Sabbath) are perfect masterpieces.
Yes!!! Those two in particular always stood out to me. So funny you paired them together, they kind of transcend music in a sense to me. Maggot Brain by Parliament-Funkadelic would probably be the third if I had to pick one to make it a trifecta.

Boy are you in for a fucking ride. I'm seeing them in Brooklyn next Friday for the fifth or sixth time, they are insane. Bruce is a force of nature, a fucking commercial pilot and an Olympic fencer. I started listening to them in 2001, they're my top 3 all time fav band, possibly #1

I'm going Friday or Saturday. I may go to Hartford or the Mass show also

They're a band that even if I don't always love their stuff, I can respect the hell out of them for their musicianship and vocals.

When I saw them in Detroit in 2016, Bruce gave no fucks, and cursed out the venue from the stage, complaining the venue was too small to accommodate the full sized Eddie.

Yup, like them.

Bruce Dickinson is a cool guy. Pilot , international fencer , brewer,. He sings a bit too.

He also have written a book or two,
Dudes also a plane spotter. A true nerd

Yes, Heaven and Hell. My favorite Sabbath song, Dio and the rest of the gang really put out a once in a lifetime masterpiece with that song.

This can't be serious. You thought it was a clothing brand? This is one of the greatest bands of all time.

Surprised you like Virtual and Xfactor so much. Those are considered 2 of their weaker albums. I like a few songs on each album but a lot were meh.

Seventh Son on the other hand is hands down my favorite album.

Powerslave, Peace of Mind, number of the beast. All those albums fucking rule.

I also suggest listening to Bruce Dickenson's solo Album titled Accident of Birth.
