I'd love to give them any kind of benefit of the doubt like there is a reason this year has been so bad but I think they just stink. Dana barely cares and the bookers just suck. Also most "fighters" on the roster today just don't have the mentality of guys back in the day. Its more sport than fight now.

Sport's really easily marketable, though, it's just that the UFC doesn't really treat itself as a sport, more a spectacle.

And they seem to have collectively lost a little interest in their own spectacle.

UFC matchmaking these days has a lot more to do with suppressing payouts than anything else. High profile fights are getting stretched further and further out and cards are still being more diluted by the week. They've been normalizing the kind of shit they did last night for years, nice and slowly, to the point that most people don't even notice when Roman fucking Kopylov is co-maining a PPV card.

I thought Islam was supposed to fight JDM this year
They advertised on last night's card, UFC Perth happening in the fall.

Perth is a FN Card so that will obviously not be the Champion vs Champion event.

It's crazy they moved noche ufc and then said fuck it no September ppv. They could atleast do a Big FN with a title that month, like Pantoja in Brazil, or Zhang in Shanghai, or shevchenko in anywhere.
Maybe they're going bigger in Dubai and MSG and Christmas cards and all 3 will have 3 titles.

Amazing to drop the ball so badly. Two current Australian champs (including one from Perth) available to fight, no PPV in September yet they put on a Perth fight night which means neither of those champs will fight. Also no chance of having the next biggest Australian star on that card because he's fighting in the UAE this weekend.

The UFC brass is ignoring the obvious wins and getting in their own way.
