Universal has announced that a sequel to Jurassic World will be released on Friday, June 22, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to star. Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who did a rewrite on World, will write the script for the sequel.

Steven Spielberg will return to executive produce and Frank Marshall to produce. Trevorrow, who is not expected to return to direct, will also be an executive producer on the Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment sequel. The film currently has the 2018 date to itself.

Jurassic World, which opened in theaters in June, has been one of the biggest successes in the history of Universal. It is now the No. 3 domestic release of all time with $614.3 million, and the No. 3 worldwide release of all time. It's broken a slew of records, and has earned $1.5 billion worldwide to date.

These fuckin people never learn do they?
Stop building dinosaur parks assholes!

though according to boxoffice mojo, it already twice but was then moved back down to 4th both times.

maybe dragon is just fuckin with me and knows someone at boxoffice mojo

Surely it won't be a theme park, but BD Wong will be a super villain and the dinosaurs will be militarized to a Blackwater/Xe type private military outfit that goes bad guy. Owen will be hired by Claire (now working for US Gov) to train the remaining JW theme park dino's to go fight the militarized Dino's.

Yeah, it's gonna suck. HARD. Greedy bastards should take their $1B+ profits and retire the franchise with an honorable ending.

I wonder if they're announcing it this early to discourage other big films from being released on the same night or even a few weeks after. JW was such a box office monster that it dissuade any studio from releasing a big blockbuster around the same time
I'm glad it's #3 of all time. Fun movie.
Same here, definitely more fun than Titanic and Avatar.

It's passed Avengers for worldwide, but not domestic (it will though, probably this weekend). Were you maybe getting the two charts mixed up?

So they're bringing back Trevorrow and the other guy who helped write JW? Oh boy.

nope, the worldwide chart has twice shown it (in the past month) having passed The Avengers, then twice being moved back down to fourth. Today it surpassed it again, but seems to have stuck.

And it just went up by another 2 million.

If it wasn't for James Cameron, this heaping pile of shit would be the biggest movie of all time.

That's sad.

Wonder why it did so well. It didn't seem like it had a huge amount of anticipation behind it. And it wasn't an amazing movie, just decent.

Because Asian markets and children globally like cartoon movies with large monsters in them. Expect many more movies with zero story and ridiculous fight scenes

So much butt hurt and negativity ITT over a summer action movie.

Do you guys not remember being a young kid and being in awe of seeing dinosaurs on a big screen? Because that's exactly why this movie has been so successful.

I'd give Jurassic World a solid 7.5/10. I turned off my brain for two hours and had a fun time, and I'll happily pay to see a sequel.

Yeah, Jurassic Park was fucking awesome. Even the 3D re-release in 2012 had me awe inspired. Although I had seen it many times, seeing it in the again in the theater was an amazing experience. The film itself was so goddamn good.

Jurassic World most definitely was not. Not even close. Not even a little bit. It was a chore and a bore to get through.

Cool story bro.

I don't particularly care for Avatar or Titanic, but I can see why they were such massive successes. Jurassic World is one movie out of hundreds released this year. They're not all going to be masterpieces.

I know. It's just mind blowing how so many idiotic movies can make so much damn money. Jurassic World. Twilight. Transformers. etc.

Avatar didn't do a whole lot for me either.

I finally saw this Monday night and I have to say I enjoyed the shit out of it... Sure there were predictable parts of it but who cares, the entire thing was fun.

This is a guilty pleasure big budget summer blockbuster. The motivations for the actions the plot took made perfect sense and it was explained in a great way. Plus Pratt is the man..

Like I said, I enjoyed the shit out of it

I enjoyed this alot
