JURASSIC WORLD v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

I wonder if theyre going to try and bend the script to bring him in for the sequel, like they did for jeff goldblum.

As long as they don't take away everything good about the character like they did for Goldblum then I'm good with that. I don't know exactly where his story goes from here but I'm all for seeing further Owen adventures with dinosaurs.

Any idea on what the total box office numbers will look like once the theatrical run is done? I thought Furious 7 would be untouchable this year, but it looks like $1.5 billion isn't the same number as when the Avengers was released.

Depends on the staying power. Reviews are mixed so im not sure if this is something people will see 3-4 times

My 8 year old jumped out of her seat and starting yelling with excitement at the grand finale.

I gave it an 8, but my kids would give it a 10+. They don't care about plot holes, campyness and shallow story lines.

Movie was bad ass. Its a dinosaur thriller so don't be expecting the Godfather. But some good action and deaths.

Can everyone stop saying "rose-colored glasses" FFS? I believe the quota's been depleted.

I would have thrown up from his creepiness if he was casted as the lead.
Why did I always assume this was the same kid from SEINFELD? The sick boy that got Kramer to tell Paul O'Neill to do a homerun in exchange for Steinbrenner's birthday card he accidentally sold.

(spoiler) when Bryce uses a flare to lure the T-Rex into the fight, Pratt should have seen her do that, and then said "... Clever girl." That would have been fkn epic.
This brings up a big question, because it sounds like the mediocrity of JURASSIC WORLD was saved by elements directly lifted from JURASSIC PARK.

It's gotta be tough to determine the balancing point between referential call-backs that made the franchise what it is, vs making each installment its own thing.

I will definitely see it at least one more time. I could see the big box office pushing those on the fence over to see what the fuss is all about. I think it'll at least get one more big weekend before it tapers off.

think i'm going to go watch this tonight despite all the mix reviews.

When you open this big the difference in final tally can be enormous. If you look at the other ten highest opening weekends their "% of total" varies from 29.7% for The Dark Knight to only 44.9% for Spider-Man 3. So Jurassic World could conceivable be anywhere from $465-$703mil domestic, with the average result being about $600mil.

But really, it's impossible to make an accurate estimation at this point. Three weekends is the point where you can start making a pretty solid guess.

Or at least you can for domestic numbers, the international stuff can be a lot tougher to nail down due to how quickly some of these markets are changing.

I can't imagine there's more than a very tiny minority of viewers who go to see the same film multiple times?

6/10

Visually it was fantastic (especially in 3D), and its quite an exciting movie... but it was ultimately pretty underwhelming imo. Many absurdities throughout the film make it, at times, laughable. Most of the characters are flimsy and as a viewer I couldn't care less if any were gobbled up, none really stood out as iconic or memorable. But at the end of the day, the dinosaurs looked awesome on screen and that's all that really matters.

Nothing classic, but a worthwhile summer blockbusta'

I think you'd be surprised. Repeat business is very important to making the biggest films so big. Movies like Avatar and Avengers had such huge totals because people would go see it, then go see it again with a different group of people, then go see it again in 3D or IMAX, then go see it again a month later with somebody who hadn't seen it yet...

To put some numbers to it: if you look at Avengers final total of $623mil that would equate to about 78mil tickets sold domestically. That's a full quarter of the total US population, or 54% of the people aged 10-45. I really doubt it got that kind of saturation, so there had to be a significant number of people buying multiple tickets.

T-Rex is old - it's predicted that they lived 20-25 years back in their day(JP T-Rex would have been what 22-23yo?). Just being alpha enough to step up to the I-Rex was supremely badass.

I guess you're right. That's a good way to look at it.

Apparently dinosaurs still rule the earth, at least the box office

Disney must be pissed that Dino-might took out both Avengers movies. Though I predict Star Wars will destroy all records this christmas.

The original script for this movie was some guy (allegedly Owen
