JURASSIC WORLD v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

Now that I think about Safety Not Guaranteed, this director/writer might prefer slice-of-life stories without character arcs.

I take it you haven't seen the movie in years.

Watch this objectively and name a scene with the new kids where they are as annoying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDl5wFURlMY

I watch the original about once every three months or so. And i dont think you understand story telling at all right now.

In that scene you just linked thats how they were meant to come across. To help the audience sympathize with Grant.

I had such high expectations for this and it was probably the most anticipated movie of the year for me, and truth be told it was quite a letdown.

First of all, the dinosaurs... how is it possible that the Rex and the raptors were sooo much better in a movie that was done 20+ years ago? It looked like a step above one of those things you see in the Syfy channel, especially the T-Rex. And I don

I would have thrown up from his creepiness if he was casted as the lead.

I liked the scene where the fat tourists were attacked by the pterodactyls and the British woman got the VIP watertank treatment. It was a good action movie. Dinosaur on dinosaur battles are cool.

Anyone else bummed at the lack of practical FX when dealing with the dinos, and also by how weak they made the T-Rex?

T-Rex is old - it's predicted that they lived 20-25 years back in their day(JP T-Rex would have been what 22-23yo?). Just being alpha enough to step up to the I-Rex was supremely badass.

JURASSIC WORLD Breaks Record with $209M Opening Weekend

Jurassic-World-Gyrosphere-Dragonlord.jpg

Obliterating all expectations, Universal's Jurassic World roared to a record $209 million-plus debut in North America, the biggest of all time and rescuing the action-adventure franchise from the brink of extinction 22 years after Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park first hit theaters. Globally, Jurassic World also posted the biggest weekend debut of all time with $516 million-plus.

The $150 million tentpole, bestowed with an A CinemaScore, proves that dinosaurs are every bit as potent as superheroes: Jurassic World bests the $207.4 million launch of The Avengers in May 2012. On Sunday, Jurassic World's estimated weekend was $204.6 million, but the number was revised upwards when traffic was bigger than expected for the day, even with competition from the NBA championship game.

Globally, the movie posted the largest weekend bow in history, eclipsing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

In just over a year Chris Pratt has gone from being a secondary character on a successful tv show to launching 3 franchises(Lego Movie, GoTG and JW) to massive success. Has anyone ever had a better year and a half?

I wonder if theyre going to try and bend the script to bring him in for the sequel, like they did for jeff goldblum.

Those are crazy numbers. I can't wait to see what it pulls next week. Does it keep pulling a big audience, or does it drop like a rock? Movies that open huge will, at times, fail to keep it going. For example, both the Twilight and Harry Potter series set records for first day opening and then proceeded to lose 70% of their audience the next weekend. I think JP will be more resilient than than those two franchises so I'll make an off-the-cuff prediction of $85mil for next weekend (for a ~60% drop). I'd say anything $95mil and above would be a phenomenal number.
