I'm looking at it two ways:

1. The movies were never totally about dino destruction. If you watch the first film, there is a lot in that movie that's not rampaging dinosaurs. Yes, it builds up to that, but there's a lot of other stuff to chew on, like the science behind dino creation, the business side of the park etc.

2. Like I said, it could be a way to expand the JP universe. Just why in the hell HASN'T a competitor risen up at this point anyway? In the real world, competitors ALWAYS come along. And if it's destruction you must have, then two groups making dinos can lead to 2x the mayhem.

Obviously they want to keep the franchise going, and I want to see them keep it going. But you can't just do the same thing over and over and over. And the best film in the franchise--the first one--is much richer, and more layered, than its sequels. It makes sense that to get back to making that quality of film, you have to make another film that has more going on on a story level than just T-Rex fucking shit up.

I'd argue that all of the movies were precisely about dino destruction; that is the entire brand and premise of the films. Now I, personally, like a good corporate espionage film as much as the next guy, but that is not what I'm expecting when I go see Jurassic Park.

The reason why a competitor has risen is because, as we've seen countless times, it's a total disaster waiting to happen. In the first film we saw the attempts of a competitor to try and get a jump and thanks to Newman it failed. Then it became a disaster. Then someone did step up and finish Hammond's work only for another disaster. This endeavor is not just about possibly going bankrupt, it's about possibly killing every single customer you have.

Moreover JW covered this to a point. The park is incredibly expensive and quickly turns into a zoo with diminishing interest. To stay ahead they have to continually create new creatures that they can't control.

The franchise has essentially run its course and now seems to be on a loop with new personalities. You can't keep it going forever...

If you watch the first film, while that may be the main thrust of the movie, there's a lot more going on in that movie plot-wise. There's a lot more happening than just "ahhhhh! dinos! run!"

Well I would argue that you feel this way PRECISELY BECAUSE you are only thinking of the franchise in one way.

Instead of thinking that JP is, at its core, about rampaging dinosaurs, why can't it be about dinosaurs period? Like, what other kinds of stories can we tell with dinosaurs?

Lol @ all the JW hate, that movie was fucking awesome

Exactly, I don't get it either. The original trilogy had 1 good movie, that is it. Jurassic World and JP III both sucked. Jurassic World at the very least was a much better film than the two JP sequels. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I like them all, LW is underrated. But imo,

JP 9/10
JW 8.5/10
LW 7.5/10
J3 6/10

They need to go back to animatronics

Why? When was the last time you actually sat down and watched the original? There are scenes where they look dated. Animatronics are a thing of the past, their movement is too restricted.

Lost World was better than J3 but the characters totally sucked. The girlfriend or wife (can't remember) of Malcolm was annoying, the daughter sucked, Vince Vaughn was a big miscast. The only character I liked surprisingly was the big game hunter.

I rate it high because of the T-Rex in the city scene, that was awesome.

Had no ideal another one was planned. I didn't reallylike the last one too much, seemed unnecessary.

I'll still watch though, look forward to a better movie please.

Trust me we're are all in shock that there is another one. Jurassic World flopped only making 209 million opening weekend, nobody expected a sequel after that.

I hope they give the T-rex nunchuks in this one.
maybe something like this.

He was the best part of the whole movie. I like the raptor scene in the long grass, the T. rex attacking the rv/the camp site and dat roar

Not too long ago actually, last year I watched it and how the t-rex looked fine.

I can say the same for CGI, it gets to the point were it looks like a video game.

A good mixture of both in my opinion does the job

Chris Pratt Gets Up and Close with Rexy in JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Teaser

JP3 is not an especially good movie, but it has a certain charm to it. I go back to it every few years and give it another watch.

And while The Lost World was a disappointing sequel, it also has some individual scenes that are quite effective.

I think animatronics are still best for close-ups. For wide shots obviously you have to go with CGI, but for close-ups it's better to have something real and tangible.

New plot details. Interadesting.

As Entertainment Weekly confirms, Fallen Kingdom begins with the revelation that there is a volcano on Isla Nublar that threatens to wipe out all of the dinosaurs that are still running wild after the events of Jurassic World. So what does the world do? Do they stand by and let these beasts go extinct again? Or do they step forward to save them from destruction? Claire, it seems, has decided that the dinos deserve a second chance. As Howard told EW:

“Claire’s founded an organization, Dinosaur Protection Group, and they’re finding a way to get these dinosaurs off the island. She reaches out to Owen Grady to let him know this is happening.”

Owen Grady is the dinosaur handler played by Chris Pratt in Jurassic World, and that statement definitely suggests that the burgeoning relationship between him and Claire has hit a rough patch in the years since we last saw them. It looks like there is trouble in multiple paradises in this movie.

In addition to Pratt and Howard, Smith and Daniella Pineda play members of the Dinosaur Protection Group and Jeff Goldblum returns to the series as Ian Malcolm for the first time in over 20 years. Other cast members include B.D. Wong, Ted Levin, Toby Jones, and James Cromwell.
