Junior Dos Santos' big wins

JDS had one of the best peaks/win streaks in MMA history. He deserves to be ranked higher than Cain on any ATG list

forget Fedor, Cain isnt even better than DC at HW

and dont give me that bullshit about DC saying Cain beats him in training. They are like bestfriends, no shit hes not gonna say he would have destroyed his bud in a fight
Dc absolutely tools cain. Peak DC is one of the best ever. Only behind werdum, maybe stipe 50 50 etc.

Disagree, chubby wife JDS was Goat material. Hot wife JDS didn't have the best run in the division.
There is a correlation to that. 100% serious.
Jds after cheating on his ex wife had his worst run
Connor after he started snorting coke and cheating on devlin went downhill
Same thing with chuck
Twood after divorce lost every fight.

Don't cheat guys. Curse is real. Be single and bang non stop but don't cheat on the wife.

Only exception to the rule is jones. Defies the existence of justice in this world.

I don't think I've ever been on the edge of my seat more than Hunt vs JDS, that fight was a single shot from being ended by either guy. JDS's speed and footwork was too much for Hunts power and counters. You wouldn't see anyone from todays HW division landing spinning kicks in the 3rd round after back and fourth battle.

Bones has one fight at HW and matches up badly against prime Cain. That's a rough fight for both.

Nice contradiction there. He matches up badly with Cain yet it would be a rough fight for Cain.

Stipe is a bum compared to Cain. Compare how they did against JDS before he was washed.

Nice MMA math. Stipe overcame DC who is similar but in some ways is a better fighter than Cain. He was also already in his mid 30s when he completely dominated Ngannou and Cain looked like he never belonged inside an MMA cage with him.

Ngannou can knock anybody out but prime Cain roughing him up and tiring him out seems like the likely outcome to me.

Like that "bum" Stipe did to Ngannou? What an idiot. I don't think I've ever seen more contradictions in one single post than this.

Jon Fitch: Cain Velasquez beats AKA teammate Daniel Cormier in UFC heavyweight fight
"[Cormier] is not a true heavyweight. He might be 225, 230 soaking wet. He's not a heavyweight. He's so good as an athlete and a fighter that he can get away with beating heavyweights up, but he's not a true heavyweight. Just based on size, you have two guys who are equally skilled, equal work ethic, equal punching power, equal everything, you're going to put your money on the guy who weighs more."

Biggest win was upgrading his wife

lol @ Yvel not a great win. The guy has 34 wins from strikes (100% finishing rate) and JDS put him down in 1 round. It's not like he went out and blanketed him like Barnett did which proved nothing.

On topic though, I consider JDS the #3 HW of all time after Fedor and Werdum. His streak to the title exceeds anything Minotauro/Stipe/Cain did IMO and his late career losses when he was punchy don't impact his overall legacy for me.

Cain obviously had the potential to be great and had decisive wins over JDS but his career was cut far too short by injuries and his overall accomplishments pale in comparison to JDS.

Stipe's resume is wildly overrated IMHO and people who call him the HW GOAT are completely falling victim to the UFC hype machine. He is the definition of a good but not great fighter who competed at a very convenient time when the division was a dinosaur museum.

I highly doubt he would have had a fraction of the success in a different era and really, his performances were usually pretty pedestrian as well. He shares many of the same wins as JDS (years later) and his performances against them were far less impressive. People can hold whatever opinion they want but for me, Stipe was just never that impressive
I think you overrate Werdum ….The Fedor win was nice ( past his prime ) ….. The Cain win was nice ( Cain hadn’t fought in how long ? ) …..Werdum is top 5 , but 2nd seems high imo

Fedor
JDS
Big Nog
Stipe
Werdum

I see your reading comprehension is a 0/10 considering I only mentioned Yvel once in passing and he in no way is a make or break on JDS' resume. I was simply vouching for a fighter who is lesser known/underrated by casuals such as yourself

Actually, Yvel is one of the few old-school fighters who casuals might know about because of his infamous behaviour or his KO rate (and overrate him because of it)

No, Yvel wasnt a great win for a HW. He was too flawed to be so even in the early '00s, let alone by 2010 when lost to Junior (and to Rothwell and Jon Madsen that very same year...)

Healthy Cain is the best ever HW, btw.

Healthy is just another excuse : he got destroyed by Ngannou and lasted less than 30 seconds.

Here's the reality.

Actually, if one fighter has an excuse for not being in his prime anymore, it's Jon Jones because he has a lot of issues in his personal life.

Yet he still manages to perform.

None of the guys in your list lost against an almost 41 years old MW by KO in the first round, except the first one in your list.

Thanks for showing to anyone your list is therefore a complete joke though.

Holy shit was it 30 seconds rofl. Sea level cain my ass hole. All conjecture. He beat jds and yes that was an emphatic win. But let's not forget peak cain nearly got owned by kongo of all people. He also struggled in a couple of other fights. He always gets hit.
Werdum destroyed him like a bum

JDS is an all-time great but people are so invested in Fedor's (undeniable) greatness that Cain annihilating prime JDS twice means that we have to dismiss him.

Healthy Cain is the best ever HW, btw.

That is some very odd contortion of logic. Seems more like you're obsessed with some idea in your head.

I consider Fedor the greatest heavyweight ever. This doesn't lead me to desperately seek out paths of logic to eliminate others from a discussion.

JDS was a beast. Cain came back in their second and third fights with a very well orchestrated game plan and he showed why he also was one of the best. Junior just physically looked older after those fights. Once he didn't have that lean mid section anymore, the movement wasn't the same. I believe he would have wrecked Overeem, had that superfight happened when it was supposed to.

He had ZERO easy fights since his UFC debut. Most guys get tune ups and softball match ups, but JDS got Werdum right out of the gate. Easily the best title run in HW history.
