When were you affected by gun violence? I'd love to hear your story and I am an empathetic ear to your pain.
Bro there's no digging your way out on this one. Just skulk off lmao

I dunno how do you tell the group most responsible for it to knock it off ? Easy access to guns is a line of horse shit country boys and suburban kids have access to an insane amount of fire power and yet you can go to a graduation a concert or a barbecue and be pretty confident you aren't getting shot .
Huh?? Digging out of what?? Is this another desperate pivot attempt because you know that gang shootings don't affect your life in any way shape or form? And because you realize that you look stupid being obsessed with stories and issues that do not materially affect your life in any way??Bro there's no digging your way out on this one. I won a day off work.did I win?
You aren't stating anything "to the contrary".... I listed incident rates for 2023...the last complete year tracked, so you showing 2024 to date rates doesn't invalidate my post...which is seems like you are trying to do.On the contrary, so far in 2024, there has been a rate of 1.36 mass shootings per day. So two deviates above the norm for the year.
But, strangely, not all of them are being counted. In the article from last year linked in the OP:
Now, I've detailed many times in the past decade how greatly it has irritated me that the definition of a "mass shooting" has changed depending on what is convenient for whatever narrative is being pushed in a particular story. It used to be four people killed, and it used to be in a public space, a place freely accessible to the public, but those conditions have been discarded. So now, for example, a family murder-suicide that includes a family as large as five people, where the murderer used a gun for all four victims, in their own private home, would count as a "mass shooting". A bit strange, but okay, that's where we are.
Well, visit The Gun Archive's mass shooting page:
There's only two incidents listed for June 19, 2024: one in Oakland, California, and one in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.![]()
Mass Shootings | Gun Violence Archive
Gun Violence Archive (GVA) is a not for profit corporation formed in 2013 to provide free online public access to accurate information about gun-related violence in the United States. GVA will collect and check for accuracy, comprehensive information about gun-related violence in the U.S. and...www.gunviolencearchive.org
What about the one in Round Rock, Texas? CNN themselves report is as a "mass shooting". CNN even references the Gun Archive at the end of this article:
Two people were killed at the scene. 14 were injured, including six with "severe injuries" that were taken to the hospital for trauma care. Obviously those aren't injuries to a shin or whatever that victims sometimes suffer when running (often falling or colliding with something) from the chaos of the scene. And, if awaiting confirmation that at least an additional two besides the two dead were shot, not injured in some other manner, the incident isn't listed anywhere among the general shootings tracked by the body that aren't categorized as "mass shootings", either.
Weird. I'm sure it will be corrected with a future update.
What an odd position to take...that "gang violence" doesn't affect any citizen's life.Huh?? Digging out of what?? Is this another desperate pivot attempt because you know that gang shootings don't affect your life in any way shape or form? And because you realize that you look stupid being obsessed with stories and issues that do not materially affect your life in any way??
Republican politics in a nutshell - a non stop avalanche of distractions and irrelevant cultural grievances to stop you from caring about things that actually DO affect your life.

It was ~1.7 mass shootings per day in 2023, so both of the last Juneteenths has deviated with an excess above the norm. You aren't stating anything "to the contrary".... There is not absolute definition of what constitutes a "mass shooting", so maybe we should retire the term, or better define it? U.S. statute defines a mass killing as having 3 or more killings in a single incident, but what if you just injure a bunch of folks and they all survive... that's not a mass shooting anymore? It's stupid.
The FBI says a mass shooting is when one or more individuals are actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area. That'? how I understand it, even though if there are only 2 victims should that be considered "mass"?
Then of course, you can become as pedantic as you want, exclude gang violence, exclude familicide, exclude whatever you like, but dead via gun is dead via gun. As long as it's intentional, I think it should be added to the measure, but I ain't The Decider".
Lastly, you make a clear cut and strong case for the gun violence archive being useless as a source of information...which is sad.
"I care about kids being shot but only when its gang violence and I support zero common sense gun regulations"Kids getting shot is not irrelevant just because they're black.

Criminals dont follow laws.America has common sense gun laws. The problem is criminals don't follow them
Criminals dont follow laws.
Film at 11
it also happens to be my wedding anniversary.
Two mass shootings a day on average in the USA in 2023.
What makes these ones stand out for y'all?
It appears as though it's just another shitty day in an exceedingly over armed and violent country.
So you agree.
I agree that criminals are people who do not follow laws.
The problems we're having in the Northeast are that people just call their cousin or friend or whatever down South in states like South Carolina to buy guns legally. Then they just drive it up the coast and handed over. Thus they become illegal guns.
