Jose Aldo thinks Ngannou made big mistake

Didn't Aldo ask for his release so he can box?
Aldo already exhausted his potential in MMA though. He also know he won't get crazy pay in boxing like other fighters and only do so out of love for competition imo.

He can't compete in MMA anymore cause his body is probably too messed up. He doesn't even use leg kicks anymore, and his coach couple years ago said Aldo's leg is messed up that's why he doesn't leg kick Max during their bouts and has more boxing approach.

Fury (not as likely yet) or Wilder (much more likely). Even a Wilder fight would net him a lot of cash - probably a full year or 2 worth of UFC fights if not more.
Wilder has never been a remotely big draw outside of his fights with Fury, and Fury has no interest in fighting Ngannou now that he's not the UFC champion. In fact, I'd wage most of the top of the boxing world doesn't really give a fuck about Ngannou now. Just being "THE HARDEST HITTER OF ALL TIME!!!!!" doesn't really move the needle nearly as much in boxing as it does mma.

And let's be real, even in Ngannou's dream scenario he gets one big pay day (probably gets a year's worth of UFC pay as you said), gets embarrassed, killing any ability for another boxing payday and goes to PFL. Where he makes 50-25% of what he would in the UFC.

Poor guy didn’t know how nice he had it.. only took thurteen seconds to lose it all

And quit using his most effective striking technique after Anderson snapped his leg.

A lot of people have no idea how devastating of a kicker Aldo used to be. Pound for pound the most brutal kicker.

i always thought he stopped kicking because like Cro Cop his leg was fucked up from so many years of doing it full blast

Yeah Francis seems to have bit off more than he can chew. Already 15 months since he last fought, nothing on the horizon either.

Sometimes the grass isn't always greener

Lol, ofcourse Francine made a HUGE mistake leaving the ufc.

he was set to get multi millions per fight and thought he was bigger than the ufc and could line up a fight for more than that in one fight?!

Francine is batshit crazy.

im enjoying watching crash and burn so far.

He should had either secure something as soon as he left or remain in the company and get the Jones money fight, sure the allure of an UFC champ fighting a boxing champ was gonna be gone but he was gonna lose by grappling, you could still sell a boxing match with Wilder or Ruiz when his contract was up.

Aldo spoke with MMAFighting Portuguese Podcast.

“With all humbleness, I think Ngannou shot himself in the foot, He had everything to sign a great contract, the biggest in heavyweight, but this desire to be a boxing champion or to fight in boxing… People see the top of the boxing pyramid getting paid big numbers but forget that the lower part is paid so little. I think the UFC has bigger salaries than boxing."

"I see Ngannou tripping about a fight with Tyson Fury, a champion, who heavyweights aim at but don’t come anywhere near. It’s like saying I wanna play soccer because they get paid million but forget only five percent gets paid millions, the rest make way below that. People say that the UFC doesn’t pay that well, but it does. That’s why it’s the biggest organization. You can make money like big boxers can. Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey. People say women don’t make money and she’s made it, right?”

“He’s leaving the UFC and you can be sure that 50 percent of everything he is is off his name now. Ronda, in order to make her movies, she had to be in the UFC. No one talks about Ronda now because nobody remembers her now. The UFC is elevated alongside the athlete. You need to be in there. You can have a partnership like Conor did with the UFC for Mayweather and that’s how he made millions.”

“I don’t know who’s wrong, if it’s Ngannou or the UFC, so it’s hard to judge. We weren’t participating [in the negotiations], so [I’m talking] based on what we heard, but they could have been more flexible. Ngannou conceding, but saying, ‘I have full capacity to go there and face any boxing champion and represent UFC’s brand.’ It’s all about the negotiation. I had the opportunity to sit down with them and negotiate that and it didn’t happen at the time, I stayed in the UFC and got to a point where I am today. I hope he can continue doing what he does best, which is fight MMA.”

“I see several athletes imagining they can go to boxing and they don’t even have good boxing,” Aldo said. “Ngannou has heavy hands, but if you look at his punch, it’s not a classic boxer that makes you think he will go in there and throw a punch like he does in the UFC and knock someone out. It’s a completely different sport, it’s a completely different fight. These guys are used with that.”

Conor Mcgregor also said the same thing when he last visited MMA Hour. It's hard to know for sure right now, cause it's still too early. But I think I agree with Conor and Jose. A lot of Conor's and Ronda's huge payday outside of the UFC is caused by their affiliation with UFC. Without the status of HW champ Francis might not worth that much. Aldo's comparison with boxing and soccer seems spot on to me.

Still can’t get over the hypocrisy of Ariel having mcgregor on his show after making such a passionate rant calling for Dana to be fired and cancelled lol

I'm honestly done defending him. He is a hypocrite and drama queen.

Respect Aldo's thoughts but Ngannou is a heavyweight and a bigger star than Aldo ever was globally. People actually want to watch the big guys fight - it's not the same for smaller guys like Aldo.
That will last until his first boxing match where he will get absolutely embarrassed.
