Jose Aldo Father is dead - Lost respect for Conor

I have to laugh when Conor talks about growing up in inner city Dublin as if that is somehow comparable to the poverty experienced by people living in the Favelas.

Otoh I doubt Conor meant any insult to his father, saying "I'm the daddy!" is a just common trash talk.
 
I used to hate the saying "love the fighter, hate his fans", but its just soooo fucking applicable right now. I used to like the thought of having Connor as a champ. A entertaining fighter, both inside and outside the cage. But you guys swarm on Connor like flies on shit, and are so incredibly obnoxious. Therefore I want Connor to get fucking starched in this fight, just so I can watch all the Connor AV's turn into something else.

I think you've just outed yourself as the one who is not too bright in this thread. Your aggression, hypersensitivity and potty mouth don't combine to make your points any more valid. Especially after making the leap from Conor's likely innocent (though not especially clever) pre-fight banter to 'he's talking about Aldo's dead dad'.

I blame TS, this whole thread is rubbish. Don't know why we couldn't just get a bit more insight into Aldo as a man and where he comes from and leave it at that. Instead Conor has to be involved. Just more Sherdog faux-drama.
 
Hopefully Conor stays on the father angle if he knew (which he probably didn't anyway). The heat that he would get would be tremendous. Some of you guys are such marks at times. You fall for this stuff so often.:)

I would have to see it in context but if he said what he did literally in response to Aldo talking about his father than he really has crossed the line from hype to POS. But I'd have to see a video or a transcript before I assume he knew. You also probably have a translator giving small bits and pieces to the other fighter about what is being said. I think Conor is annoying as all get out bit I'd be a little surprised to find out this was a direct response.

On a side note, much respect to Aldo. I knew part of the story but that was an interesting look with more details.

Or lets throw in swords in the octagon while we're at it. I mean MMA is considered to be this barbaric fringe "sport" anyway, and anything goes for the sake of entertainment. ANYTHING!

You think if he didn't know before that once he knows now he should do it intentionally for buzz? He should intentionally mock Aldo's dead father for hype? And you think people who would find that incredibly low-class to be marks?

Not surprising really but the weird part to me is always how you people seem to be proud of it or think it is a sign of intellectual superiority. If people insults eachothers then they might as well insult eachothers family, what does that change? Not much. That being said, I don't need anyone to remind me that Aldo was the most respectful and didn't start this. ;)

I think its more a case of dorks trying way too hard to come across tough online. "Hey look at how tough and crazy I am because I think someone making fun of someones dead dad would be awesome for the buzz :), im sooo fucking hardcore"

i agree. but this doesn't make connor look good. watch them show this before their fight in the arena, and see how the audience reacts.
 
Just like Bethe had no idea Ronda's father commited suicide, I don't think McGregor intended to offend the memory of Aldo's father.
