Jones Making the Same Mistake as Conor

Appreciate your sentiments.

IMO, Jones will be emasculated.

He's had such a great run, and been such an asshole the entire way, that a devastating comeuppance is "in the air" ... and he's earned it.

Again, Mark My Words
100% for sure. he's over due. i also envision a scenario where jones evades a couple of rounds, as other HWs have, and he pours it on 3, 4, 5 with wrestling, clinch work, ripping shoulders out of the socket shit, just dirty shit. then when he gets it to the ground, hes too much. or he gets K1d and absolutely demolished. going to be great to see.

Ok, words marked. We’ll see. I’m rooting for Gane, but I’m not as confident as most of the posters here seem to be.
Looks like Gane is preparing against wrestling, but how about them eyepokes?
Heard he was training with the best.

Agreed. Jones made a career out of bullying smaller people and keeping them at distance with a huge reach and height. He was great at distance control, but less than average in the actual aspect of striking skills.

I can't remember one time thinking "man, Jones has incredible striking" in any of his fights. All I could ever think of is "he couldn't get away with that if he wasn't so tall/long."
His striking selection was good. Of course he used his reach but he also was difficult in the variation and timing of strikes too. He fought like he should have fought in the div he was in,and he may wind up looking avg or less at HW without his natural advantages.

- Jon Jones has never fought remotely similar to Conor.

- Jon having any sort of reduction in mobility is way more likely due to him getting OLD.

If you actually watch Jon Jones' attempted "boxing techniques," he is making the same mistakes as Conor McGregor.

McGregor used to be a free-flowing, multi-dimensional karateka, with a very wide stance, and unpredictable movements. Gradually, over time, McGregor began to "body-build" — while simultaneously trying to build "more muscle" — in addition to developing "a tight boxing stance."

Virtually all of McGregor's embarrassing losses have come from this shift.

Jon Jones is making the same mistake. He not only looks stiff and slow in his videos, but he actually winds his hands back, prior to punching. Absolutely forced, amateurish boxing technique.

IMO, Jones is making the exact same mistake Conor McGregor did:
  1. Getting enamored with "muscles"
  2. Thereby moving up in weight;
  3. And then trying to be "a boxer" (when he doesn't have the aptitude).
And, similar to Conor, I predict Jones will similarly get KTFO for his bad choices.

Absolutely all of Jones' successes (as well as Conor's @ FW) were because of his enormous size/reach differential for his weight, compared to his opponents.

As soon as those were removed, so too did all of the losses come raining down.

Mark my words.

As great as he was at LHW, Jones will be humiliated against Gane at HW.
What those two amateurs need is to surround themselves with experts like yourself.

I don’t like the way he put on weight. A few pounds of muscle for all that unnecessary flab wasn’t worth it imo. I would have maingained while focusing on strength and conditioning.

Bruh. Jones isn't an idiot. He's hyper competitive, and almost certainly has some kind of winning strategy given his current fitness level. Problem is not the strategy or technique, it's his old and potentially PED-free body. He's going to have a hard time controlling someone like Gane who is agile, large, and strong.

Have you considered that changes to their styles could have something to do with the passing of time and accumulation of wear and tear?
