If Jon does lot of kicks, i wouldn't be surprised if Gane takes him down. Not sure if any fighter will try to close the distance without causing obvious damage from the outside. Which just won't happen for Jon imo.

I am not really that into stats because they are tabulated by idiots and can be very misleading for several reasons. Still, it's fun to mull over them leading up to a fight, so off we go....

Jones and Gane are neck and neck in defence and strikes absorbed per minute stats.

Gane leads 5.1 to 4.3 in sig strikes landed though, so he is both more effective as a striker and also puts himself in danger more than Jones. This makes his defence stats more impressive imo.

Furthermore, Gane does nearly all his work on the feet, whereas Jones' strikes landed and strikes absorbed numbers have significant contribution from minutes Jones spent landing strikes from top position. This matters if you are rating fighters in distance striking/defense.

He took over the 2nd half at LHW against a guy w no experience fighting in the 5th rd. Thats not Gane. Jones wasnt carrying all that extra weight either. Sure he's smart and will try to conserve energy as best as he can but its still uncharted territory for Jones. Gane looks like in striking he can go 15 rounds.

But he can’t do one round of wrestling. One TD and the fight is over for Gane.

I typed and meant Jones has pillow fists. Maybe at hw he can punch more. I doubt he turns into Wilder. I doubt he turns into Wilder or accumulates enough power to get Ganes respect.

Jones looks human fighting guys his size. 83-81 reach. When you add in height and footwork, it's nullified.

I don't like Jones but he is arguably the GOAT. ASTERISKS being gear numerous times. I hope it's competitive.

Given the history of corruption judges, outside of a ko, it is a automatic gift decision. Highway robbery. If it goes to a decision, guaranteed Jones gets it even if he is hit dead but makes the final bell.
