He was 23 when he beat the previously youngest UFC champion Shogun at 29

Making Jones the youngest UFC champion ever, so yeah, hes going to fight people mostly,,,older.

On the Stipe Ranking there isn't much to say. You clearly want to hang on to that despite Stipe being out of the cage and retired for 3 years. Makes no sense for him to be ranked at all. I suppose you would be OK with GSP being ranked #1 at WW. You are just being dumb.

Yes Jones fought older people. But now he is refusing to fight someone younger. You keep making excuses for why your boy is justified in Ducking fights. I don't get guys like you who are happy to argue why their favorite fighter should not fight. Sad.

Tom is probably a harder fight, but that doesn't mean Jones is easy.

Also, there are highly-functioning alcohol/drug abusers and that's what Jones has been so far. Conor, not so much.

It's a cool fight. With the actual HW belt now getting defended, can't see a reason not to make Jones/Pereira happen. If they're gonna wait for the WH card, okay. Aspinall/Gane, winner fights the winner of Almeida/Volkov. Whoever's the champ can defend vs winner of Jones/Alex if they want a title shot. If they don't, it's still a fun HW fight. Or if Jones actually wants to cut to 205 again, give him an immediate title shot in the division he ruled and really belongs in. Either way, no reason not to be excited for this potential fight.

My assumption would be if Alex moved up he'd vacate. No he shouldn't hold up the belt. He has a broken foot, TBH if his intention is Jones at HW, just vacate now. He's been active as hell so maybe would be the guy who WOULDN'T hold up a division, but he's 38 so if he's gonna move to HW just do it permanently for your last few fights.

I only care about Jones in the context of him being a cool fight for Pereira. Otherwise, nah.

Right. Fighters can surprise us with anything on fight night. We truly don’t know anything for sure until they actually fight; so it’s all guess work. You could use that same argument to say it’s guess work for me to assume Jones has those qualities over you or me.
But Jones has put in the work for us to say he most likely has these things over someone who has shown us zero evidence of having said qualities.
